St Peter’s square manchester

Yesterday I took a lovely group of artists from Sale Moor Art Club urban sketching in St Peter’s Square. None of the group had been plein air sketching before and all enjoyed the challenge of drawing from life. So many brilliant sketches came out of the session. It was really interesting to see what everyone was drawn to, not just the buildings but the phone boxes, policemen, street lamps and leaves on the pavement. So many brilliant conversations and laughs. And the sun shone!!!

In November I return to the group to help them turn their studies into oil paintings. I’m really looking forward to it.

I want to climb up and have a nosy. But I think it’s private. So I’ll just sketch it and make assumptions about the interior and the views instead.

Got a hankering to make some Lino prints when I get back home. It’s been on my mind for ages but ideas are finally coming to the surface.
