We are very sad to announce the passing of our dear friend, John Lynch. Many of you will remember him as the co-director of Manifest Arts Festival, also as a photographer documenting the Arts scene across Greater Manchester for many years. Always a gentle, generous, and friendly person, he will be greatly missed.

Manchester Art Gallery opened on Thursday the 20th of August. Under current circumstances things are different. You have to book in advance, specifying a time slot, I got a really convenient one. You have to wear a mask, and a number of the galleries are not open. But many favourites are on display, you always notice something you have not seen before, like a painting by Barbara Hepworth, and of course there are always new works. In this case by makers. There was no problem with social distancing, the staff seemed friendlier than ever, it was great to be back!

Manifest was born in Interactive Arts, It was to be called 'Creative Futures' because that's what you learned, How To Be Creative. Omnibus rebus bonis finis est.

It was the launch of Salford’s Culture & Place Partnership, last night at Unit 4 in Islington Mill. There were a number of speeches, some humorous, some informative, and lots of interesting ideas proposed, my favourite by Hemmingway Design. And questions raised and points solidly made by among others Lucy Harvey. For Manifest one of the most interesting aspects as the number of open studios, with a great mixture of Artists such as Susan Gunn and makers I bought a candle from Sophie at . Promising for future festivals!

Word of Warning continue to produce some of the most interesting performance arts events in the North West. Emergency StopGap is typical of some of their work, providing a platform for experimental and works in progress. By its nature it is hit and miss, with some excellent works, some that are hard to decipher and some you can’t find. Not helped by the cold weather, you kept your coat firmly on, and ram shackled at times (I was never reminded to make a donation, so forgot to make one! Let me know how to do it online?). This type of work is essential.
