I’ve spent the last couple of weeks completely immersed in painting, and it’s reminded me how much I love adding the tiny details. They’re always the bits that take the longest, but they’re also the bits I enjoy the most.

This is a little detail from one of my earlier paintings that felt fitting to revisit today 🤍

After a fairly surreal few days, I’m back in my studio with a lot to think about. Winning the Spring Fair stand has opened up a new chapter for EllaJo Studio, but for now it’s back to the part I know best, researching, sketching, painting & working out what comes next.

I’ve got several ideas taking shape at the moment, alongside the very early stages of planning what six square metres at one of Europe’s biggest trade show might eventually become 🫠

Plenty to get on with then!

I'm absolutely thrilled to share that EllaJo Studio has been selected as an Spring Fair 2027 Winner 🎉

This means I'll be exhibiting at next February as part of the SBS Pavilion, with a fully funded stand to introduce to retailers from across the UK and beyond

When I started this studio, I hoped it would become a place where I could bring together everything I love, painting, print, pattern and thoughtful design. To have that recognised in this way feels incredibly special

The last year has been full of small steps that have slowly built into something bigger. There have definitely been moments of doubt along the way, so this feels like a real milestone for both me and the studio ✨

A huge thank you to , the and for believing in EllaJo Studio

And thank you to everyone who's followed along, bought a print or card, shared my work or simply cheered me on. It really does mean more than you know 🤍

I'm looking forward to sharing what comes next!

Thank you so much to James McNeill Messenger Newspaper for the support & feature 🤍✨

After yesterday’s post & quick poll, I was interested to hear how many people already have a gallery wall at home and would like to keep adding to it. I think that’s why I like them so much, they’re never completely finished.

A new piece appears, something gets rearranged and before long the wall tells a slightly different story. The best ones evolve over time, collecting memories, places and pieces you connect with along the way ✨

Why do some homes instantly feel like the person who lives there, and others don’t? Not because they’re bigger, more expensive or perfectly styled, usually is something much smaller

A colour palette that matches their personality, a collection of mementos gathered over time, a piece of art that reflects something about the people living there

I think that’s why I’m drawn to creating work for homes. Not because a print fills a wall, but because it can help shift the feeling of a space

Another week down, this one’s been a bit of a chaotic haze.
The heatwave was so so welcome but also brought it’s own problems with sleep (or lack thereof with a toddler) 🙃

I’ve been packing orders throughout, although a little slower than usual, paper sticking slightly to hands, trying to keep the studio cool enough to think…

I do love weeks like this though, when the weather completely shifts how everything feels. It changes the colours I reach for, the pace of work, even my working hours- I appreciate early mornings so much more, and noticing how my painting revolve in a slightly different way.

I keep coming back to this idea of colour as emotion, how something can shift the feeling of a room before you’ve even properly registered it.

I’ve noticed a shift in orders this week too, bolder, more playful pieces like this Jungle Tiger seem to have been resonating 💜

My work at EllaJo Studio sits between illustration, surface pattern and print design, but it always starts with the same question: how does this translate into something real?

Alongside my personal studio practice, I’ve worked across in-house and freelance roles in fashion and lifestyle, where the gap between a beautiful idea and a commercially usable file is where most things fall apart.

That’s the bit I actually enjoy solving.

If you’re a brand looking for someone who gets both sides, the creative and the practical, my books are open 🌷
