Local Creation aims to provide exhibition and performance space, low cost studio rental, and workshop space to the Creative Community of Trafford, South Manchester and North Cheshire, to develop the creative community and networks in the area and to create employment and development opportunities for local people. Local Creation believes artists and creatives of all disciplines are key to the futu
re of the High Street and that cultural activities are the building blocks for the building of a community - they are the activities that bring us together. Key to Local Creation's ethos are the following aims:
* to create employment opportunities for local artists and creatives and creating exhibiting opportunities for non commercial artists and their work
* to widen the audience and exposure of the public to a variety of art forms and creative disciplines, and to widen participation in the arts amongst the local community
* to develop the local market for artists and creatives to sell their products
* to lobby for the all creative disciplines to be given a voice in how their local town regenerates its high street, to reflect the changing needs of the community and the high street. Local Creation is currently a Limited Company aiming for a non-profit status (profit, what's that?) However that doesn't mean we believe artists shouldn't be paid, people mistake profit for earning an honest salary. Artists deserve paying and shouldn't live on charitable hand-outs; its not sustainable and it doesn't pay adequate respect for the role creatives have in building our communities and regenerating our high street.
