Wags has been a regular face on the Leeds Techno circuit since the mid 90's, first cutting his teeth behind the decks as a regular guest in the bottom room at the legendary Orbit nights between 1997- 2000.
During this period Wags also held a residency at Burnley based Deep House night Mind Biscuit playing alongside such Dj's as Ralph Lawson, Digs and Whoosh and Justin Harris.

Present Tense - “After migrating north from its Bristol birthplace, Present Tense returns to Manchester's record store-turned-dancefloor, Eastern Bloc, for another evening of sharp techno and oddball variants delivered by dedicated residents and esteemed guests, all fluent in beats.
T
op of the bill is Charles Green. The London-based DJ, promoter, producer and agent will be familiar to heads in attendance at festivals like Transmissions from Hackney, Freerotation, Houghton and Queen’s Yard this year with club dates taking him to Berlin institution Renate and Hamburg’s PAL, RX Istanbul, Lion & Lamb, and Patterns, Brighton, where he holds a residency, with regular duties also locked at revered stomp-off, Jaded. Known for technical craft and tough, high-energy selections, it’s not without reason he headlines tonight.
Elsewhere, another London talent comes in the form of Present Tense trooper Sam Carroll. A DJ booth master whose productions have found their way onto Freddy K’s legendary Krzrzrz! radio show, among other places, his marathon stints smashing out forward rhythms with a 1990s attitude marry the sounds of today with timeless noises. His love for getting stuck in with those getting sweaty front and centre mid keeps things informal, accessible, and personal.
Add to those Present Tense founder Amy Amor, her keen understanding of sounds ranging from deep, intricate house to minimal and heads down percussive drivers has been honed at cult events and venues including Freerotation, Psychedelic Discotech, Stage & Radio, and Rye Wax, to name a few, impeccable taste and ability to hone in on groove also gracing your home via digital platforms such as Steam Radio and Club Solo. Finishing the mix, Martin Guttridge-Hewitt draws on decades behind the decks for consistently varied sets, a passion for unearthing curveballs, while refusing to let party atmosphere and intensity slip, more than clear.

Secret Technology: Performance in Practice W/ Iceboy Violet & Rainy Miller
A free community sharing platform, exploring music at the intersection of the personal and the technological.
This time we’re joined by two of the North West’s most ferocious cross-genre artists and . They’ll be discussing their performance styles and approaches and the technology of expression.
Iceboy Violet is a Manchester-based producer, vocalist and DJ. Their sound combines dark brooding electronics with a powerfully raw vocal delivery. Their lyrics are honest and vulnerable, inspired by the energy and resistance of Grime music in particular and Global MC music in general, warping genres in an aim to erode boundaries we face collectively
Rainy Miller was born and bred in Longridge, Preston. When Grime exploded onto the scene in 2006, he quickly began playing and experimenting with rapping and making beats. Miller recorded and released his debut project Limbs in 2019, a work of northern neo-R&B that was put out on his newly minted own label Fixed Abode. The project saw Miller beginning to develop what would become his signature approach, turning in on himself musically for both inspiration and liberation and this introspective, felt, personal style has become central to his output (“it’s cathartic, it’s therapy”).

We are located on Stevenson Square in the Northern Quarter. We continue to supply the best in electronic music on Vinyl since 1985. Since our refurbishment in 2016 we now operate as an events space with a fully licensed bar where on a Friday or Saturday evening you can enjoy one of our Instores where we host local club nights, labels, guests & residents all for free, until late, a perfect warm up to the weekends festivities. We are also a cafe by day serving the best hand-roasted coffee, specialist teas, homemade cakes, all day breakfasts and vegan friendly options.
