We are honoured to be shortlisted in the The University of Manchester's Inaugural Partnership Excellence Awards, with our partners Manchester Camerata. The nomination relates to the Music in Mind project, and was for the Research Collaboration Excellence category of the Awards.

💛 Proudly supported by our friends at Classic FM these intimate, inclusive one-hour performances are the perfect chance to pause, breathe and experience world-class music.

🌙 Curated by our leader Caroline Pether, this programme explores music full of intimacy, colour and reflection. From Boulanger’s gently expressive Nocturne, through the luminous warmth and invention of Ravel’s beloved String Quartet, to the quiet stillness of Golijov’s Tenebrae.

🍃 Imagine a clear day in the English countryside: fields stretching under a blue sky, hedgerows alive with birdsong, and a gentle warmth in the air. From its very first note, Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending will carry you into this dreamlike place.

🕊 Caroline Pether takes centre stage in this atmospheric portrait of nature, performing one of Britain’s most beloved works.

🌱 For a moment, the landscape shifts as a bustling city comes into view. Mozart’s Prague Symphony is bright and full of life, written for a city that welcomed him as a hero, alive with warmth, brilliance, and invention.

🌳 The journey then leads us to Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, the “Pastoral”, one of the most vivid celebrations of nature ever written

❗On 5 August, the John Bull Chophouse in Wigan was devastated by an arson attack. The pub has been a home for music, alternative culture, artists, musicians and communities, a place woven into the cultural fabric of Wigan and the wider North West.

🤲 As part of our Here We Are Festival, we’re coming together at The Old Courts to celebrate what the John Bull means to so many people, recognise the devastating impact of the attack, and shine a light on the community effort to save and restore this much-loved institution.

❤️ Join us in the Victorian Courtroom for The Gospel of the John Bull, a unique performance celebrating one of the North West’s most important cultural landmarks, and a celebration of the music, people and stories that have made the John Bull what it is.

🎹 Scroll to learn more about Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.3, which our Artistic Partner, will be performing alongside conductor Christoph Altstaedt as part of our Here We Are Headline Concert.

💙 We'll also be performing a brand-new work by created with and inspired by carers from across Greater Manchester in collaboration with our friends at the University of Salford, a moving celebration of real voices, lived experience and community.

🔁 We're closing with Terry Riley's iconic In C, a beautiful piece that transforms simple repeating patterns into something completely unique every time it's performed.

🎹 A look back at Ethan David Loch performing with us last year in a rare improvisation with our wind players, created entirely in the moment.

⚡ We’re welcoming Ethan, our Artistic Partner, back to The Monastery Manchester on 18 September for The Expansion of Sound, our headline performance as part of Here We Are.

🎶 Joining conductor Christoph Altstaedt, Ethan will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, alongside a programme spanning Pérotin, Charles Ives, Terry Riley and a new work by Alan Williams and carers from Greater Manchester, They Are Our Life.

For the first time, the iconic Rochdale Town Hall will welcome Rap, R&B and Soul artists to its stage, alongside a Camerata string quartet

Presented in collaboration with Hamza Medley and Rochdale Creates, this special performance features some of Greater Manchester’s most exciting emerging voices, celebrating local culture and world-class music.
