Our weekly yoga club is less about shapes and more about gathering. Come exactly as you are – busy mind, wobbly balance and all.

You can bend your knees if your toes feel miles away. You can challenge yourself or take the rest you need. There’s no right way to show up.

What survives when a place changes?

The buildings, the people and the stories.

Long before NOMA became what it is today, the Co-op published a staff journal called Ourselves, capturing everyday life around Balloon Street 🎈

Its pages tell stories of a kitchen worker who had once been a lion trainer, and Harry, the undefeated champion of the annual Manchester Flower Show.

A place exists somewhere between grand architecture and the small, curious lives of the people who pass through it. Both are worth remembering.

Want to discover more? The Co-op Archive is open to visitors Wed and Thu, 10am-4pm, in the basement of Holyoake House.

What better way to celebrate 10 years of Sadler's Yard than by telling the story of the man behind its name? 🎈🐈

Local artist B O B O 1 3 2 5 shares the inspiration behind Together We Rise, a year-long project honouring pioneering balloonist James Sadler and Manchester's spirit of innovation.

We caught up with Beth to chat about the artwork created for the project and how being part of NOMA’s growing community has helped bring the story to life.

And keep your eyes peeled around the neighbourhood… you might see one of the artworks on a much bigger scale very soon 👀

Thanks to Material Source for supporting the project and dBs Institute of Sound & Digital Technologies for sharing your space and sound technician, Kanaz.

How did one man, a cat and a balloon end up shaping the heart of NOMA? 👀

In 2015, Manchester built a new public square and handed the naming over to the people of Manchester.

With over a thousand entries, the winning name was Sadler's Yard - in honour of James Sadler.

A pastry chef turned balloonist from Oxford, who famously took off from Manchester city centre (Balloon Street to be exact) in a hot air balloon, with his cat in tow 🎈

So that's how a man who visited Manchester just once ended up making his mark on the city...

It feels like a brilliantly Mancunian way for Sadler's Yard to get its name, if you ask us 🙂‍↕️

P.S. Now you know where Sadler's Cat got its name from, too 🐈‍⬛

Grace from Plant MCR shares her top tips for composting 🥬

Why composting is important:

~ Delivers essential nutrients like nitrogen and potassium naturally
~ Helps soil hold onto moisture so plants survive dry spells
~ Strengthens the soil structure to prevent heavy rain from washing dirt away

Fancy giving it a go? Start small and see what you can compost at home 🌱

What looks effortless on the plate takes an incredible amount of skill, precision and teamwork behind the scenes.

At Skof Manchester, Tom Barnes and his team bring modern British cooking to life from their home in NOMA.

As much as possible is made in-house with some processes taking days to complete.

The team works closely with British producers, sourcing from farms including Our Farm by Simon Rogan and Cinderwood Market Garden, with seasonality and quality central to what they do.

Since opening in 2024, Skof has earned a Michelin star and a host of accolades, but at the heart of it all is the team.

Here’s a little look behind the scenes ✨
