This has been an unforgettable week.
After 27 years as a percussionist, I tried something completely new this week working as a Sound Designer for the first time, thanks to the Breakthrough workshop hosted by 53two. I was lucky to meet incredibly talented teammates and generous mentors who shared their knowledge with us.
First, a big thank you to 53two for organising this workshop. Creating a show in just 5 days was honestly crazy and exhausting but we all learned so much!
(Shameless plug: this place isn’t just a performance venue, they also serve great beer and coffee. If you're ever in Manchester, go check them out! )
Special thanks to my mentor Patch Middleton. He taught us how to plan and create, and shared his valuable experience. It was super inspiring! His guidance helped us avoid a lot of trial and error, so we could focus on being creative without worrying about technical stuff.
Lastly, huge thanks to my amazing teammates — director Linnae Yllane , writer Daniel Hickman, lighting designer John Ollier and producer Indrees Awan. Together, we created a warm and high-quality piece in just five days. Working with them was a real joy, and I feel so lucky to be part of this team.
I hope we’ll meet again in the future and create more beautiful work together!
呢個係一個好難忘嘅禮拜。
做咗27年敲擊樂手嘅我，因為參加咗53two舉辦嘅Breakthrough workshop，人生第一次嘗試做Sound Designer。而幸運嘅我，再次遇到非常有才華嘅伙伴，同埋願意傾囊相授嘅導師。
首先要多謝53two攪呢個workshop，雖然用5日攪個演出出嚟呢樣嘢真係好癲同埋令我攰到懷疑人生，但我哋一班學員真係獲益良多！(廣告時間：呢個地方唔止表演場地咁簡單㗎，仲有啤酒同咖啡飲，大家嚟Manchester一定要去幫襯下)
然後，好多謝我嘅導師Patch Middleton，佢教我哋點樣去構思同創作，同埋分享佢嘅寶貴經驗，真係非常有啟發性！而且佢教嘅嘢令我哋行少好多冤枉路，好讓我哋能夠專注喺創作而唔需要煩惱技術上嘅問題。
最後，我想多謝我同組一班天才橫溢嘅組員：導演Linnae Yllane、Writer Daniel Hickman、Lighting Designer John Ollier同埋Producer Indrees Awan。我哋用咗呢5日，創造咗一個好溫暖，好有水準嘅作品出嚟，同佢哋合作係一種享受嚟，我好榮幸能夠成為佢哋團隊嘅一份子。
希望將來有緣再聚，一齊再去創作更多好好嘅作品出嚟！
