A meeting to review the year and a discussion on the possibilities for the coming year, topped off with a pub social!

TODAY IS THE DAY FOLKS!! 🎉🎉🎉

We are so so excited to bring you The Magic Behind The Lozenge, our lil lockdown project documenting the trials and tribulations of trying to put on a full scale Gilbert and Sullivan show in the height of a lockdown.

Guys!!! It’s FOUR DAYS until we premiere our lockdown project: The Magic Behind the Lozenge 🥳🥳

Our lil mockumentary will give you an EXCLUSIVE warts-and-all peek behind the scenes as we attempt to produce Gilbert and Sullivan’s famed 9th operetta in the midst of a global pandemic.

We will be premiering virtually on YouTube and LIVE at our very own Arch (we’re gonna convert our workshop into a cinema(ish) for the evening!!)

SO please do join us at 8:30pm on Saturday September 25th, either online or in person and witness our haphazard journey over the course of several lockdowns to bring you G&S’s The Magic Lozenge! 🎭 (in-person premiere will be followed by a trip to the pub, naturally)

MUGSS welcomes cast members of all abilities and experience, taking those whose last experience of theatre was anywhere from the lead role in a local theatre show, to the part of the grandfather clock in a school play – and performing together in what is usually an award winning show.

MUGSS PRESENTS: THE MAGIC BEHIND THE LOZENGE

On Saturday the 25th of September, at 20:30, MUGSS is premiering The Magic Behind The Lozenge, a warts-and-all peek behind the scenes, as MUGSS prepares to produce Gilbert and Sullivan's famed 9th operetta, The Magic Lozenge, in the middle of a global pandemic.

Often regarded as "The Ugly Duckling" among the G&S canon, The Magic Lozenge sees a small village near Cornwall explode into chaos at the return of sailor Richard Headingly, who causes quite an uproar in both the local bakery and carpentry businesses, and in particular, for the magical carpenter, Agnes.

This fly-on-the-wall documentary is going to premier virtually (with a small number of seats available for an physical premier at The Arch), and for this reason we're structuring the pricing as Pay-As-You-Feel, because times are hard and every little helps.

COME ALONG and witness our journey over the course of several lockdowns, all in order to bring you Gilbert and Sullivan's The Magic Lozenge.

WE’RE BACK BABY!!

We hope you’ve all had wonderful summers, we’ve missed you! 😘

We are very excited to announce that the show MUGSS will be performing this coming academic year will be….. THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE! 🏴‍☠️

We have decided to commit to just one large production this year whilst we get back on our feet, and what better way to do that than one of Arthur and W. S.'s best works!

This means that we are now on the look out for a lovely Director to lead us in this creative endeavour, and be responsible for auditioning and rehearsing our cast and chorus.

If you want join our wonderfully bonkers and award winning crew, please email [email protected] by no later than Friday September 10th, summarising your proposal for your interpretation of the show, why you would like role and any relevant experience. We will be in touch very shortly after about an interview!

We are also in need of a Musical Director!

As our Musical Director you will work closely with the Director to teach and rehearse all the musical numbers with the cast and chorus, and you will also be responsible for recruiting and rehearsing an orchestra and conducting them throughout our show week.
