Applications are now open for The Manchester Contemporary 2026.
We’re inviting galleries who want to do things a little differently.
Over the years, the fair has become a place where galleries can take chances — whether that’s presenting a solo booth, introducing a new artist, or bringing more ambitious programming than might be possible elsewhere. Manchester audiences are engaged, curious and open to discovery, and collectors here respond strongly to confident presentations.
One of the elements that makes the fair particularly distinctive is the £50k+ philanthropic acquisitions fund supporting works entering the collection at Manchester Art Gallery. It creates a meaningful opportunity for artists to enter a major public collection while remaining firmly within a commercial fair context.
We also focus on creating a valuable and enjoyable experience beyond the fair itself, including:
• Complimentary hotel rooms for top collectors
• A relaxed city-wide social programme
• Special events across Manchester
• An intimate Michelin-starred dinner for galleries, artists and collectors
Manchester feels like the right place to approach things differently — ambitious but welcoming, serious about contemporary art, and open to new ideas.

Applications are now open for The Manchester Contemporary 2026.
We’re speaking to galleries who value ambitious programming and are looking for a fair environment that supports experimentation alongside commercial opportunity.
The Manchester Contemporary has developed a reputation as a place where galleries can take risks — from focused solo presentations to showcasing emerging artists and presenting work that pushes beyond more conventional fair expectations.
Manchester audiences are highly engaged and open to discovery, while collectors consistently respond to thoughtful, confident curation.
A key part of the fair’s identity is the £50k+ philanthropic acquisitions fund supporting works entering the collection at Manchester Art Gallery. It offers a rare opportunity for artists to enter a significant public collection within a commercial fair setting.
Alongside the fair itself, we curate a wider city-wide programme designed to strengthen relationships between galleries, collectors and artists, including:
• Complimentary hotel stays for top collectors
• Social events across the city
• An intimate Michelin-starred dinner for invited guests
Manchester continues to offer a distinctive context for contemporary art — ambitious, collaborative and open to new ideas.
