We’re delighted to announce that Parktastic will be bringing free family fun to Mayfield Park every Wednesday from 5pm–7pm, throughout the summer holidays until 16 September.

Part of Manchester City Council’s Child Friendly Manchester programme, Parktastic is a summer long celebration of play, giving children the chance to get stuck into FREE drop-in activities right in the heart of the city.

From games and crafts to outdoor activities, there’s plenty of fun to keep everyone entertained.

Manchester artist Callum Simmons has just completed the longest hand drawn and painted mural in the UK. A marathon of paint, patience and persistence, boldly launching the first commission of Create Mayfield.

Tomorrow, we’ll be sharing a behind‑the‑scenes film that takes you through the process - the physical and mental challenge, the detail and the meaning behind every section.

CREATE MAYFIELD // 01 — Future Loading by Callum Simmons

The first artwork in a major new creative commissioning series brought to you by the team behind Mayfield.

Stretching 300 metres along the edge of Mayfield Park, Future Loading has been entirely drawn by hand making it the UK’s longest continuous artwork of its kind.

Working directly onto the hoarding, Callum Simmons builds shifting gradients of colour inspired by the changing Manchester sky and the tones that evolve as you move along the park.

As the centrepiece to the launch of Create Mayfield, a commissioning pot worth tens of thousands of pounds is now open to artists, makers and creatives across Greater Manchester.
