Hi all,

Some sad news to share: This weekend will be our last few days of trading at The Next Door Gallery. Oh no!!

There’s no massive drama. Brian, who founded the gallery, decided to step back a year ago, and the two of us who manage the shop day-to-day, also run another art business with much lower overheads. We’ll now be returning to that full time. We took over in August 2023 for a six week pop-up event, and have somehow managed to stick around for three years which isn’t too bad!

We’ll still be around South Manchester supplying art and framing, so I’m sure we’ll stay in touch with many of you. The website and this account will stay open, at least in the short-term.

Thanks to all our neighbours and customers on Burton Road for a wonderful three years. We’ll be open this Friday & Saturday from 11 - 4.30 & Sunday 11-3, with discounts on artwork & sculptures, plus our fabled framing service will still be available too. Hopefully see some of you in person before we move out, and in the future too.

Join us at The Next Door Gallery this weekend, for a live painting demonstration courtesy of our popular local painter Megan Farrell.

Meg will be working on new original works in the gallery, showcasing her distinctive and contemporary approach to painting.

We will also be exhibiting a selection of new, affordable ‘miniature’ works from Meg over the weekend, priced accessibly to make her original works suitable for all budgets.

Sunday afternoon coincides with this month’s Didsbury Makers Market close by, so come and pay us a visit in the sunshine this weekend, and meet Meg in a relaxed and informal setting on both Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st from midday onwards.

Slightly adjusted opening times for the week ahead: We’ll be open tomorrow (Wednesday 20th), but closed on Thursday, and then back open from Friday through to bank holiday Monday. It’s the last chance to see all of the works from our spring exhibition together, so why not pop in and pay us a visit over the week ahead?

Spring is sprung! We’re now well in to the first week of our exhibition. It was fantastic to see the gallery so busy last Friday evening for the preview night, and a huge thank you to everyone who came down.

Join us tomorrow evening, Friday 24th April, at The Next Door Gallery between 6 - 8 PM for the preview evening of our Spring Exhibition. A show with a keen focus on high quality, affordable original artworks and sculptures, in a relaxed, informal setting.
 
Several of the artists featured in the exhibition will be in attandance on Friday evening, including Megan Farrell, Pamela McTurk, Emily Kate Boston & Avneet Cheema.
 
All welcome, and refreshments served. We hope to see you there.

A few weeks ago we went down to the Midlands to visit artist , to collect these striking new, original works for our upcoming spring exhibition. Pam will be making a personal appearance next Friday between 6-8 PM, at the exhibition’s preview evening. You’ll have to join us there in person to find out if her wonderful dog Ella - featured here - will be in attendance too 🐕

Save The Date! The preview evening for our Spring exhibition is later this month, on Friday 24th April between 6-8 PM. Refreshments served, and all welcome. We get asked a lot if the gallery is dog friendly, and the answer is of course! We’ve been running the gallery for almost two years now, and I estimate that roughly 20% of my working hours have been spent petting a dog in store. Our jar of dog treats has become local lore among dog walkers on Burton Road too. We’re open this weekend for all customers, both four and two legged, with new artworks on the walls, and our framing service open for business from Thursday to Sunday. Opening times in the bio ☝️🐾

Join us between 6-8 PM next Friday 21st March, for the Preview Evening of debut solo exhibition, ‘A Sense of Calm’.

The exhibition centres on a new collection of Meg’s striking, meditative original works, which have been a best-seller in the gallery over the past few months. The show will run until Sunday April 6th, and we hope to see many of you at the gallery next Friday, raising a glass of prosecco to the artist in person!
