ALL THE BEAUTIFUL THINGS THAT HAVEN'T HAPPENED
Woven by lilly

'All the beautiful things that haven’t happened yet' is a gorgeous woven piece made of dead stock cotton and twine. Fibre artist Lilly created the piece especially for JOY!, our variety scratch event that took place last month to mark World Su***de Prevention Day and raise money for Campaign Against Living Miserably

Lilly writes:

“This handwoven tapestry celebrates the joy that is yet to come, but always there to look forward to.

No matter how lost or hopeless we may feel, there will always be a small patch of something - a colour, texture, person, conversation, piece of art - that fills us with hope and makes us feel more optimistic about the world we live in.

We may not be able to predict how or when that patch of joy will show up, but we know it always will - and when woven into our life, it will, in its own small way, change the rest of who we are forever"

Our night of JOY! ✨💖🥳

What an INCREDIBLE night we had on Tuesday. Our fundraising scratch event, JOY!, saw local creatives take to the stage and share a piece of art dedicated to what brings them joy. We had comedy, poetry, music, TedTalks, and even a couple of games of Kahoot... Not to mention the fantastic visual artwork created by artists Millie Shaw and Lilly Beards.

Altogether, we've raised around £200 for Campaign Against Living Miserably, an amazing su***de prevention charity that we are so proud to support.

Thank you to the wonderful Eagle Inn | Music Venue for allowing us to use their space free of charge to raise as much as we could. And a huge thank you to everyone who took part, who created and shared work, and who made the evening so special and genuinely delightful. We had a HOOT.

Time to meet a couple more of the wonderful artists taking part in JOY! and helping raise money for Campaign Against Living Miserably, including one of our visual artists who will be displaying a piece at the event 😍🥳

JOY! will be a special variety scratch event in aid of national su***de prevention. A celebration of all the big and small things that make life worth living, artists will have a 3-5 minute slot to share a piece of art dedicated to something that brings them joy, whether that's a poem about pigeons, a song about pumpkin spiced lattes, or a stand up skit about dogs.

We only have 4 tickets left, so book quickly!

Last week, we took Dear Eliza to the arches at 53two | MCR Arts Hub ✨

After an uphill struggle with ticket sales, the Manchester theatre community really showed up for us - we jumped up from 16 tickets to 50 and had one of our "best" performances yet, apparently! Thank you to our wonderful audience for joining us for a truly special one ❤️

We are working very hard behind the scenes on our Arts Council England funded educational project, bringing Dear Eliza and specialist workshops into educational settings. We have our first trial session in a few weeks. Wish us luck! ✨

Last week, the Red Line Theatre team hosted a private performance of Dear Eliza at the studio space at Octagon Theatre Bolton. We even had the mayor and mayoress of Bolton in attendance!

We are currently developing a new educational project with support from Arts Council England. The educational project will see Dear Eliza touring to educational institutions and training programmes, alongside running specialist workshops, including a simulated therapy session.

This ambitious new project aims to fill a gap in current curriculums; many students/trainees are not getting exposed to high distress or difficult scenarios until they are headfirst in a real-life situation. It's no wonder that burnout rates are so high in MH practitioners, and drop out rates are so astonishing amongst those in training. Our robust new workshop will allow students to develop clinical skills and practice building therapeutic relationships in a safe and simulated space.

We will also be providing workshops for performing arts students, exploring how to safely write and perform emotionally demanding characters and how to utilise writing as a cathartic tool.
