Here is a snippet of sound artist and regular collaborator @posh_jhillips creating an ambient soundscape for our upcoming production of The Dumb Waiter.
Tickets for Friday 22nd have now sold out! Limited tickets remaining for Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st. Ensure you get them before they sell out!
Here’s what Josh had to say about his input in the production: ‘Red Brick approached me with the proposition of making a piece of ambient sound for their pre-show. We agreed that it should be muted, oblique; evocative of being below the earth. We knew it would have to be made without a sense of traditional harmony, and I settled on a soundscape that would reflect something empty and post-industrial. I made the piece using a modular synthesiser recorded on a four-track cassette recorder, loaned to me by @diminutivearthur, with each track looping a different tone. I also added processed bass guitar and synthesiser to the finished cassette mix. I employed the generative processes that I love to use as often as I can, and in the end track finished up at about 30 minutes of evolving drones and subtly drifting walls of noise’
