The Malvern Cube is a leading community centre for all with a focus on youth engagement.

In late 2010 a group of local residents began a campaign to save Malvern’s Youth Centre from closure by Worcestershire County Council. The Malvern Community Collective (MCC) campaigned vigorously against the closure of this valued community space and by Summer 2011, Malvern Town Council and Malvern Hills District Council pledged their support to the Collective’s plan to take over the running of the centre from Worcestershire County Council. On 1st May 2012, the MCC (now known as the Malvern Youth and Community Trust Limited (MYCT)) took over the running of the Malvern Cube at a peppercorn rent for the next 30 years.

Introducing Marian Wyn Fearon – A Blaze of Colour.

Marian's practice explores colourful subjects through the fluid and expressive medium of watercolour. She works intuitively and without preliminary sketches, allowing the paint to lead the process and responding to the movement of colour and water as the image develops.

Marian’s work will be on display in our café throughout November (normal café opening hours 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday).

Introducing Maisie Cooper – Up to no good.

Built through intricate layers of pen work, this piece explores the possibilities of line, pattern and playful character. Inspired by the slow, repetitive process of mark-marking, it gently pokes fun at the way identity and appearance are so often taken seriously. Maisie invites viewers to find humour and curiosity within the piece, reminding us that personality often lives in our quirks rather than our symmetry.

Introducing Lisa Kleinsmiede – Stormy Skies.

Lisa is a watercolour artist based in Welland and has a small shop in The Homend Shopping Mall, Ledbury. She paints whatever she is in the mood for so her work is quite eclectric!

Introducing Kath Watson – A Favourite Place.

Kath is very new to sketching. She started drawing last year while in recovery from a medical procedure. She loves perspective challenges that buildings offer and takes a sketchbook wherever she travels. As she spends so much time at Faun it seemed only right to try and capture it.

With roots in creative writing, Jean Bliss has recently branched out into physical mediums. She enjoys combining words and paint, taking lines from her poems and turning them into visual pieces.

Ian generally paints landscapes using oil paint which usually includes an architectural element. His preference is to undertake this work en plein air.

Building the Future update! The walls are getting higher, and the building is really starting to take shape. Hopefully, the floor will be going in next week, with the brickwork soon ready for the roof.😁
