I'm unbelievably lucky to live in a tiny village surrounded by fields and under enormous skies. The sunrises and sunsets have featured in my work before, and given these last few days, it won't be long before they do again!

It's not a thing I like to mention this early...but...you know what will be with us soon. So I thought I'd take the opportunity to remind you while its , that I only take two commissions on a month, and September is already fully booked x That leaves only six slots before (shhh) christmas.

DM me, email me, check out my website for terms and conditions x

This charming study of a child stepping out with a walking stick is by new York Textile Artists member Holly Capstick. It is part of the POSTCARDS exhibition and will be on show until close of play Saturday.

Holly creates mainly figurative work using paint and stitch, and you will be able to see much more of her art, and every other member of York Textile Artist's work at the annual exhibition, Fragments of Imagination, which will be showing at York Cemetery Chapel 10th and 11th October.

Today the spotlight from the POSTCARDS exhibition falls on Jo Yates, whose work with fabric and stich combines with words and phrases to produce work that is not simply beautiful to look at, but is also intellectually challenging.
The work Jo has on show here is more reflective and soothing, with patchwork, handstitching and applique offering a simplified view of the Yorkshire countryside, while the visible topstitching recalls the underlying graft and hard work that makes the county what it is.

There's still time to see the exhibition - it closes a week on Saturday, so come on down!
