Proudest moment to date

Today we had our zoo licence renewal inspection, to say that our team smashed it is an understatement. We have 0 directions this is absolutely incredible and to say that I’m proud of our amazing young team is an understatement.

Zoo licence legislation is incredibly tough and rightfully so but our team worked really hard to achieve an outstanding result. Going through this inspection is like an Offsted inspection on steroids, everything is scrutinised so this is a massive testament to the whole team involved.

Massive thank you to endless support we get, our amazing team, James my husband, Ben our zoo vet (essexandsuffolkequinevets), Jurgen (Edgewood vets), Secretary of State vet and local Authority.

These are our beautiful Macaws…🪶🦜

They are HIGHLY social birds and use complex, loud squeaks to communicate!🗣️

FUN FACT:

Macaws blush when they are excited or stressed!😳

Just like humans, the bare skin patches around a macaw's eyes can change colour. When the bird experiences strong emotions—such as excitement, joy, or frustration—blood rushes to its face, turning the white skin a noticeable shade of pink.
