We’re turning TWO!

It somehow feels like both yesterday and a lifetime ago 😅 when I think about how much we’ve packed into those two years. From our exhibitions and book signings to artist talks, openings and all the wonderful artists who have filled the gallery with creativity, it’s been quite a ride. And none of it would be possible without the amazing support we’ve had from our visitors, collectors, local community and those who have travelled far, especially for our Celebrating George show.

So, come and raise a glass with us as we celebrate two years, there’ll be something sweet to enjoy too, with gorgeous cupcakes from Wedding cakes, Celebration cakes & Cupcakes in Maldon.

We’d really love to see you there❤️ This will coincide with the Maldon Art Trail weekend.

Free to attend - just pop in and celebrate with us!

We’re delighted to introduce Shani Wray-Jenkins as the second artist in our Featured Artist Window.

Shani’s paintings immediately caught my attention with their vibrant colour, expressive brushwork and beautiful sense of atmosphere. Her work finds inspiration in the ‘poetry of ordinary things’, transforming familiar objects and everyday moments into something unexpected and uplifting.

After more than 30 years working internationally in fashion and interior design, Shani returned to painting in 2020. Now based in Lincolnshire, she works from her home studio, creating contemporary still life and floral paintings primarily in acrylic, often incorporating collage, oil pastel and charcoal to build texture, depth and movement.

We’re delighted to be showcasing her work in the gallery for the next two weeks. If you’re passing, do pop in and take a look.

Shani’s work is on display from 8th – 22nd August. Her collection of work is in our linktree in bio.

Taking a short break! ☀️

The gallery will be closed for the next two weeks while we take some time to rest and recharge after a wonderfully busy few months. Thank you so much for all your support.

We look forward to coming back on August 5th, with exciting new work in the gallery, more featured window artists and a new winter photographic and book signing exhibition to be revealed.

💫 Celebrating George closes today 💫

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported the exhibition.

We’ve been so touched by the amazing response, the lovely conversations, and to everyone who has bought books and prints. It means so much to know that George’s legacy lives on and we appreciate the many people who have visited the show.

A big thank you to BRIAN ARIS for letting us exhibit his beautiful photography in our little independent gallery here in Maldon ❤️

All prints continue to be available online. The link is in our bio.

We close at 4pm today so you still have a chance to pop in 🙌🏼

Did you know?

Brian Aris’s iconic 1987 portrait of George Michael (image 1) was recently acquired by the National Portrait Gallery for its permanent collection, recognising the significance of his work in documenting one of Britain’s most celebrated artists.

‘George was born in North London in 1963, the third child of immigrant Greek Cypriot restaurant worker Kyriacos Panayiotou and his English wife Lesley…George grew up as Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou. Young Georgios earliest musical ambitions can be tracked back to when he was given a cassette recorder as a seventh birthday present, therefore spending many happy hours recording himself singing the pop hits of the day, with his two older sisters and a boyhood pal from down the road supplying backing vocals. “From then on I just knew I wanted to be a pop star,” he later recalled.’ ~ Excerpt from Celebrating George, by Brian Aris.

Signed, limited edition fine art prints by Brian Aris are available in editions of just 25 or 50 (small size) with both framed and unframed options.

Each print is individually signed and numbered, making it a wonderful edition for collectors and George Michael fans alike.

Available at our Celebrating George exhibition which runs until 18th July and on our website.
