I wanted to show you a more subtle painting by noted St. Ives artist Sir Terry Frost OBE RA (1915-2003).It is titled Boat & Purple Sun. Il - an Acrylic and Collage, inscribed on the back. Frost studied at St Ives School of Painting in Cornwall and during this time, lived in a caravan. This was followed by attending Camberwell School of Art. He was tutored by the artist Victor Pasmore. Alongside other St Ives artists such as Ben Nicholson and Peter Lanyon, he moved into abstraction after beginning in the Euston Road Group realist tradition. Frost returned to St Ives upon leaving Camberwell, where he worked as Barbara Hepworth’s assistant on Contrapuntal Forms (1951) for the Festival of Britain.
He obviously went on to be an extremely successful and celebrated artist.
And yes, this painting is coming with me to the Aldeburgh Fair Pop 1st -7th July

This irresistible gem has just landed. An original painting and collage by the well known British abstract artist Anthony Frost. Frost was born in St. Ives, Cornwall, (1951), the son of Sir Terry Frost. He studied art at the Cardiff College of Art and has gone on to have his work featured in the “Art Now Cornwall” exhibition at Tate St Ives in 2007. He is also in major collections.
This painting has just headed off to our framers. It will be floated, surrounded by a thick white mount and a white frame and I cannot wait to see it all finished.
It really is a little gem- image size around 10cm width, however we will be providing the exact dimensions soon.
