Our next Home Education and SEN Museum Takeover will be on the 6th July!

We will be getting stuck in to lots of STE(A)M activities and challenges! There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy a picnic. If your child collects Pawprint badges then you can order one for them at booking!

Make sure to book your spot by using the link below:

Please note that a minimum number of bookings is required to allow the takeover to go ahead so don’t delay your booking!

The suggested minimum age is 5 but if you feel that your younger child will get involved please book them on - activities can be carried out by different ages to a lesser or greater degree or with adult help.

We had an amazing first ever Museum takeover on the 1st June where we had a talk on space from Professor Dean, created our own moving rocket pictures, created a view of space, designed our own planets, carried out a space hunt, explored the museum and made the most of the picnic spaces.

With thanks to the Museum of Power Trustees, I am now delighted to confirm the next four dates and super topics for our next Home Education take over days!

Monday 6th July - S T E M challenge
Monday 3rd August - Around the World
Monday 7th September - Museums
Monday 5th October - Weather and Climate

These sessions are designed to be relaxed, educational and social with an opportunity to try all activities at your child's own pace. There is also plenty of space to find some quiet time too if needed. If your child collects Pawprint badges then you can also order one of these to be awarded at the end of the day!

It would be great to see as many children and their families as possible make the the most of this amazing opportunity - to book your spot please go to:

Don't forget to bring your picnics! Refreshments and snacks are provided.

See you then :-)

Just two weeks to go until our Museum Takeover!

There will be lots for the children to do if they wish and even an opportunity to earn a Pawprint badge (please order your badge when booking) based on the theme that month. Our theme for June will be all about Space and we are very lucky to have the amazing Professor Dean presenting his talk ‘The Importance of Space’ that he did to thousands of children last year.

The cost will be £10 per child (aged 5+) and £2 per adult and includes refreshments and snacks.
All we need now is you!

We look forward to seeing you for our first Museum Takeover for a social, fun, relaxed and educational day.

If you haven't booked your place already please go to:

For group booking rates please contact Lorna The Crafty Cabin.

Please note that Astaria Model Village, Steam Pump Tea Room and the miniature train will be closed so please do bring along your own picnic to enjoy in the grounds. Booking is essential.

Fixed price alert! 🤩

Thinking of booking your child's party at the cabin next year?

Why not book now and pay this year's prices? The prices will stay fixed until the 31st January 2026 at which time there will be an increase (not a huge amount as I like to ensure that you have received value for money) but every bit helps these days.

So, why book at the Crafty Cabin?

Over 500 very happy children have enjoyed a party in 2025 🥳

Every party is unique to your child's interests, even the fixed craft packages can be theme adapted.

Five crafts at every party - they are kept very busy!

Choose from different levels of crafting and from different food options to make your own party experience.

Enjoy the huge outdoor space available for picnics and play when the weather is kind.

We make it our mission to ensure that every child has the 'best party ever' - well, for that year at least!! We even just about put up with " 6 7" 😏

Enjoy half price tickets to the museum for every guest to be used at a later date and parents enjoy escaping to the Steam Pump Tea room whilst their children are having fun at the Crafty Cabin.

Enjoy free parking !

And most importantly - no mess at home !

If you would like more information about a party at the Crafty Cabin please email [email protected].
