✨ Breaking Barriers with the One Thing The National Lottery Community Fund Project

In this heart warming film, discover how scouts and elderly members of the disabled community shared more than just space—they shared kindness, care, and connection. ❤️

Hear from Zelda Solomon and Olive Pascha about their approach to designing these workshops and the mindset behind creating a space for one of the most impactful projects we've ever delivered.

(zeldasolomon.com) and Olive Pascha (olivepascha.com) remind us that intergenerational engagement isn’t just valuable—it’s vital. Through weekly workshops, young people demonstrated real empathy, respect, and openness—and the impact was mutual.

The project allowed participants, young and old, to gain so much from the companionship, energy, and inclusion. 🌈 The result? A powerful exchange rooted in humanity.

--In The One Thing project, scouts and elderly members of the disabled community came together in a series of creative, intergenerational workshops designed to break down barriers, challenge stigma, and—most importantly—combat loneliness and isolation.
Through shared activities, storytelling, and playful collaboration, participants discovered the power of kindness, connection, and inclusion. Young people brought energy, empathy, and openness. Older participants, many of whom face daily challenges with isolation, experienced meaningful companionship, joy, and community through weekly engagement.

Hear from Victoria Button, Project Manager of The One Thing (Artimate), as she reflects on how the project was built around human connection—placing creativity and care at the centre of a powerful response to social disconnection.

This short film, co-created with participants, captures the spirit of the project and celebrates the transformative potential of intergenerational community work.

If you are a community artist who works across Essex and is interested in intergenerational work, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for an enthusiastic, imaginative, kind, and creative person who is ready to work on a project that really brings people together to build friendships and create exciting creative work.

Animation Workshops for 2024 are set!
For children aged 7 - 12 years old :) :D
Please share and spread the word! I need your help... Especially as I haven't been doing much for the last 9 months other than baby duties!

Workshops run by Victoria Button Creative Professional Animator! On pro software and hardware! So if you know any super creative children bring them to me they will love bringing their imaginations to life!

The next workshop 2 Days in February Half Term. 19th and 20th Feb 10-2pm each day

Amazing session yesterday at the ERO - Essex Record Office!

Thank you to all Lottery Players that made this project possible by playing the National Lottery! National Lottery Heritage Fund

We're working with a group of talented young people to bring the Peasants Revolt 1381 to life through animation and live action filming. They were inspired and are creating films to inspire you!

Yesterday, was our first session with young people getting the low down on the history at the The Essex Record Office with historian Valina Bowmen Burns!

Swiftly followed by filming session with Jane Gull award winning director! Thank you to Work Jamie (Jamie Weston) also for also supporting the session!

Massive thanks again for all people who play the lottery! Your money does go to good causes!
