Art Fair Cheshire

Art Fair Cheshire Cheshire's leading Art Fair at Macclesfield Town Hall. Founded in 1999, Art Fair Cheshire is an established biennial exhibition.

Run entirely by experienced volunteers, it is one of the most respected art events in the North West of England and attracts thousands of visitors to Macclesfield. The Art Fair showcases work by a variety of talented local and regional artists, many with national and international reputations. Each exhibiting artist donates a proportion from the sale of their work to East Cheshire Hospice, with so

me also generously donating a piece of artwork. East Cheshire Hospice provides expert and compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses and offers additional support to their families and carers. The services of the Hospice are free and available to all in the catchment area set out below which includes Buxton, the High Peak, Congleton, Knutsford, High Legh, Poynton, Wilmslow and Macclesfield. The government meets less than 20% of the running costs of East Cheshire Hospice and they need to raise more than £6,000 every day of the year to cover expenses. The exhibition showcases a diverse selection of work by talented local and regional artists. We invite artists from outside the area whose work we admire and who are keen to support the charity.

🎨 Welcome to Art Fair Artists…

Andrew Pal 🖌️
Working on paper mainly with watercolour, Andrew's approach is to embrace the movement and uncertainty of the medium. Whether responding to a built or natural landscape, the human form, or a simple still life, each painting begins with observation of the real and familiar and moves deliberately towards abstraction. Splodges and splashes spark new ideas which he seeks to transform into an overall picture that evokes a feeling of curiosity in the viewer. People say that his paintings are ‘honest and alive’ and that they 'draw you in'.

Susan Doyle 🎨
Susan is a contemporary painter working mainly in acrylic and mixed media. She influenced by the landscape, most of her work starts of by sketching and collecting ideas, feelings and emotions from my surroundings. Susan tries to practice daily sometimes working in sketchbooks, on paper or other materials.

Mel Curwen 💍 Treacle Town Designs
Mel is a hobby jeweller. She began jewellery classes after she retired from a career in 'Big Pharma'. Mel works with silver, copper and brass making a mix of earrings, bangles, necklaces and rings. Mel donates all the profit from her pieces to charity - mostly to East Cheshire Hospice.

We can’t wait to see their work at this year’s Art Fair from 8th October.

🎨 Welcome to Art Fair Artists…

Peter Mather 🖌️
Peter Mather is an enthusiastic landscape artist when he is not distracted by all the other areas of life. Where possible he will paint 'en plain air' to capture the light, the sounds and the aromas of those few precious hours. When that is not possible, he will make a rapid sketch or take a photo or both to use as his subject matter to be worked on at home.

Nicky Litchfield 🖌️
Nicky is a British artist, whose subject matter is quite traditional, predominantly British wildlife and farm animals. Her artworks are contemporary in style. She works mainly in pastel and although Nicky occasionally uses other mediums. She finds herself going back to pastels again and again. Nicky enjoys colours and mark-making and letting the character of each animal shine through.

Nicola Briggs 🫖
Nicola hand builds her statement ceramics from porcelain using textures, mark making techniques, layering glazes to react with each other to create a dynamic, interesting surface, embracing drips and finishing with platinum details. The Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi which embraces ‘perfectly imperfect’ organic shapes, torn rims, and intentional mark making is a thread throughout all of Nicola’s work.

🎨 Welcome to Art Fair Artists…

Sue Scott 🖌️
Sue is a contemporary landscape painter with a dual approach to my work focus and technique. Colour and light inspire her to explore my favourite landscapes, in particular the Lake District and the West of Scotland, where she spends time walking and observing my surroundings. Sue's interpretation of each location has its own unique palette which she then breaks down into segments of colour.

Leri Kinder 🎨 Leri Kinder Art
Leri enjoys unearthing ancient dwellings and discovering new subject matter. She is inspired by weather beaten barn doors, rusty door furniture, stone walls and the range of sea fishing tackle to be found in small fishing ports. These are then the inspiration for close work where the textures are replicated in watercolour to evoke a sense of emotion within the viewer.

Amanda Taylor 🖊️
Amanda works predominantly in oils but often include drawing media - particularly charcoal. People just being people inspire my work. There are stories to be told in their faces, in their postures and gestures, and in their relationship to one another. Amanda prefers to work with unposed images of people going about their daily life. She creates images from Google Street View, TV documentaries, or from observation. For Amanda, their unrehearsed selves tell volumes about their characters and lives. Their stories are very important to her... even while she don't know them, she tries to convey their characters, moods and stories through her paintings.

🎨 Welcome to Art Fair Artists…

Steven Bewsher 🎨
Steven has been a professional artist for over 30years, and is best known for atmospheric landscapes and urban paintings of the North West. He has been involved in numerous gallery group exhibitions and solo shows over the years.

Deborah Ann Graham 🖌️
Deborah's painting style is gestural and abstract yet full of objects, using layered applications of oil paint, oils sticks and other drawing media often removing and repainting areas time over allowing her content to slip in and out of ambiguity. Within this push and pull, doing and undoing she explores themes of seasonality, aging and the fragments left in the wake of passing time.

Jan Lewis-Eccleston 🦉
Ocean, travel and the natural world provide inspiration for one-off porcelain and stoneware pieces. Using white clay bodies to allow oxides and underglaze colours used for decoration to remain true. These are rubbed back to emphasise texture and form.

Visit Macclesfield Town Hall from 8th October to see these wonderful art pieces!
