evelop skills in the performing arts, create performance opportunities and promote youth talent. In May 2010 the group presented its first show: "THE MAGIC OF MUSIC" - an exciting singing and dancing variety show, full of vibrancy and energy, giving its cast of 42 talented youth the chance to demonstrate their talents and showcase what they could do. Apart from varied material from well-known musicals and artists, some new and unique material was performed with several of the cast providing new musical arrangements (Karol Jaworski), their own choreography (Kate Hawker), and an extract from a new musical “18 Years”, written by 16 year old Ollie Mills, was showcased with a 15-piece youth orchestra. The Magic of Music Production Team consisted of a group of voluntary professionals: Kalini Kent, Heather Hayes-Wilson and Sue Lane, who have many years experience performing in and directing musical theatre and dance shows. CYGNETS wants to continue in their mission to develop people, young and old, and to provide opportunities for new and emerging talent to showcase their material. We welcome and encourage new writers and composers, and would like to give our audiences the opportunity to see new and original work. In July 2014, CYGNETS performed a concert at Macclesfield Masonic Hall to a capacity audience and managed to raise over £850 in one evening for the charity CRY. Amidst a talented line-up of performers, three songs were performed from a newly commissioned musical which is being written by Bradley Snelling. This is an exciting new project with many opportunities for 8 to 25 year olds, and during 2015 we plan to run workshops in schools and churches using the material from this new musical. More information will soon be published about this. Two further events run during 2014 were "Sing Wicked in a Day" and "Encore By Candlelight", both of which were tremendously successful. They have further exciting projects in the pipeline including other Sing In A Day events, MATILDA THE MUSICAL (IN 20 MINUTES) and a "SHOWSTOPPERS" Youth showcase. CYGNETS is a not for profit organisation which has been adopted by St Michael's Church in Macclesfield and is in the process of applying for CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) status. All monies either raised or donated to the group will only be used by the group to achieve its aims and objectives. Please spread the word about CYGNETS and support us in any way you can.
