In April a local 14 man 'pop up' choir called 'All Men Can Sing', staged a concert at Macclesfield United Reformed Church to raise money for East Cheshire Hospice. They only started practising in mid February and learnt a lot in a short time frame, and their efforts helped to raise £3331 for the Hospice. The concert programme was boosted by sets from the established Macclesfield Male Voice Choir and soloist Kimberley Raw, and so a wide variety of music was enjoyed by an audience of nearly 200 people. Ticket sales were boosted by income from a raffle, with prizes generously donated by P R Jones - Jewellers of Macclesfield.
The 'All Men Can Sing' project was financially enabled by the D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust and Macclesfield Town Council with practical support from Chrome Motors, Macclesfield and East Cheshire Hospice itself.
Last week some of the participants visited the Hospice to hand over the cheque. (see image below).
Sarah Elvin, Community and Events Fundraiser at East Cheshire Hospice said, 'Congratulations on raising such an incredible amount and thank you for choosing to support the Hospice with your fundraising concert, we truly appreciate you and your efforts'
Plans are already in hand for a 2nd 'All Men Can Sing' choir to be run in early 2027. Interested men can contact the organising group at [email protected]
