Thank you to everyone who came to visit and partake in the fifteenth event at the weekend. It was great to see the town so busy and so many people enjoying their time with us.

A huge thank you to everyone behind the scenes for supporting us ('us' being the Fylde Council tourism team) - on logistics such as marquees, security, first aid, sound and light, traffic management, toilets, bins, fencing and so much more.

A massive thank you to all the entertainers who performed over the weekend, re enactment groups, stall holders, caterers, fairground, military charities and other organisations who made the event, quite a few of these new to the event this year. We couldn't do it without any of you and we're pleased to hear of funds being raised for worthy causes from this event - well done to everyone involved, especially those new to us. Great work!

Thank you to the businesses in the town centre for supporting the event, many of which decorated their shop windows and also won a prize for their efforts - they'll be finding out this afternoon with prizes on the way. Thank you to those organisations who supported the event in any way and put in prizes or sponsorship towards the event. It is very much appreciated.

Thank you too to the Lytham St Annes Spitfire Ground Display Team for arranging regular flypasts of the P51 and Spitfire too which was a joy to see. We had to take the late decision to cancel some of the battle and cannon pyrotechnics given the parched dry ground conditions, so thank you for your support and understanding our reasoning for this.

Two questions - when is it next on? In 2027 we'll be back on 14th and15th. And lost property - call 01253 658443 during office hours. We haven't got that much this year, but if you're missing something, please get in touch and we'll try to reunite you.

Where things can be improved and we have a list, we will endeavour to resolve these for next year, particularly around coach parking / drop offs and the parade logistics - we're on it!

There's loads of images of various Facebook groups and accounts but, for now thank you to everyone associated with the event in any way at all and for you for visiting and supporting what we do.

Take care until we see you again.

Announcement.

You may have noticed how dry Lytham Green is after a prolonged dry spell.

With this in mind and also the recent government announcement regarding open flames, we have taken the decision to alter some of the weekends plans, these being fully supported by our event partners.

The battle reenactment will still proceed, but the ground based pyrotechnics and the big explosions at the end won't take place this weekend.

The cannons will still fire but will have a few changes to the powder mix and angle of firing to allow these to safely proceed.

So, things will still proceed as planned but given the tinder dry ground conditions we have had to make some slight adjustments to the programme.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Good morning everyone, more updates to come soon, but for now, please be advised that we'll have the fantastic Gregg Wolstenholme photography with us at the 1940s Weekend.

So, when you see a drone up during the weekend at various points, DON'T PANIC, it's all in order and arranged in the correct manner and should we get a Spitfire flypast either / both days then things will be fully coordinated.

Thanks

We look forward to welcoming Anthony back to the Lytham 1940s Weekend who will be guiding you through some new steps each day 12:30pm and 2:30pm on the Mussell Tank adjacent to the Promenade. Two left feet? No problem at all. We look forward to seeing you.

Here you go!

Good weather ordered . New re-enactment groups, new military charities and historical exhibitions, new caterers, new trade stalls, event layout reconfigured in some places, dancing on the Mussel Tanks and in Clifton Square, learn to dance sessions with Anthony and Steph and plenty more.

Plus, events happening around Lytham too (many businesses have put something on over the weekend). And we look forward to seeing businesses in the town centre supporting the event with shops dressed ready for inspection by 'Winston Churchill' and the Mayor of Fylde on Saturday morning. We'll be visiting shops and businesses in the town centre again tomorrow.

And a very big thank you to our supporters and businesses who have helped support and sponsor the event, including Stringers Lytham, St Annes Beach Huts, Lytham Hall - it is very much appreciated.

There's plenty still going on behind the scenes as we approach the event, with event plans finalised and final paperwork checks currently underway. The marquee build starts Tues 11th August.
