Today's 'Throwback Thursday' classic is the stunning Jaguar 'SS' (Swallow Sport) saloon from 1938. Retrospectively it's called the Mk IV and was the brands flagship sports saloon and one of the first models to feature the name of 'Jaguar'.
Sleek, sporty, drive focused, it was the modern alternative to the larger Bentley and Rolls Royce models available at the time, and could match them for luxury at half the price.
It's 3.5 litre six in-line motor with twin carbs could take you from 0-60 in around 20 seconds and top out at just under the 100mph.
If you'd like one.... you'll need very deep pockets, think in excess of £60,000.

Today's 'Throwback' classic is the wonderful Saab 9-3 Cabriolet. This is the second generation of the car that lasted with the odd design tweaks for over a decade from 2003-2014. Built like tanks, these cars will outlast models that are built at present. If you have the money, buy one and cherish it, it will become a family heirloom!

It's 'Throwback Thursday' once again and today we trawl our back catalogue and discover this Ford Cortina Mk1. The Cortina (inspired by the Italian ski resort) was designed at Dagenham by Roy Brown Jnr who had designed the ill fated Ford Edsel in the US..... and then been banished to the UK.
To be fair his Cortina design was a real breath of fresh air going up against the Morris Oxford and the Vauxhall Victor in 1962. It proved to be a massive hit in the UK and was the forerunner to a whole family line of Cortina models spanning 20 years through to the mkV in '82.

The weather’s heating up — and frankly, your handover gifts should be doing the same.

This Thursday classic throwback is the stunning Alfa Romeo Spider 1750. Possibly rivalling the Jaguar type E as the most beautiful car in the world the original and best Spider first saw the light of day back in 1966. This first Series 1 Spider was designed and assembled in the Pininfarina workshops and lasted until '69. Another three series came and went over the years until the final one left the production line in 1994, but it was always that first series that stole your heart with the pureness of its lines .
Want one.... well you'll need deep pockets to buy a good one!

Today's 'Thursday Throwback' is a British classic from the 50/60's.... The Wolseley One-Point Five. It first saw light of day in 1957 along with its very close cousin the Riley 1.5. It was built by BMC and was really just a Morris Minor with a larger 1.5 litre engine and a party frock.
Top speed of the Wolseley was 76mph whilst the Riley with twin carbs was a dizzying 82. It drank a gallon of fuel every 30 miles.
The plug was pulled on the model in 1965 when 103.000 had passed through the factory gates.
Want one? Well a good condition model will cost you around the £4k mark.

Today's 'Throwback Classic' is the amazing BMW Z1, a 2 seater sportscar produced in very limited numbers between 1989-1991 and designed for BMW by Harm Lagaay.
It had a unique plastic body with vertically sliding doors that dropped down into the door sills. It was powered by a 2.5 straight six engine and a 5 speed manual gearbox, but only came in a left hand drive format.
BMW were wanting to produce 35,000 but demand dropped off after the launch and the plug was pulled after only 8,000 had left the factory in Munich.
Like hen's teeth to find today and prices are high!

'Throwback Thursday' and today's classic was the pillar of the middle classes back in the 70/80/90's... the Volvo 240. Introduced back in 1974 and designed in-house by Jan Wilsgaard the 200 series set new standards for safety that the rest of the car industry simply had to follow in its footsteps.
The estate was huge and could hold any families holiday luggage plus the Labradors with ease.
There were assembled at nine factories around the world from Canada to Thailand, selling 2.9 million units before being phased out in 1993.
A legend of a car!

Right… serious question 👇

Someone you know has just picked up a Land Rover Defender OCTA (basically a tank in a tuxedo)…
Or the new VW T-Roc (sharp, stylish, and already getting more attention than they are).

And you’re thinking:
“What do I get them?”

Please don’t say… socks.

At Classicmemories.co.uk, we’ve got gifts that actually match the moment. The kind that say “I saw your new car and raised you something better than a petrol station air freshener.”

Because let’s be honest—
You can’t turn up to see a brand new car and hand over a bottle of red like it’s a last-minute dinner invite.

🎁 Proper gifts for proper cars
🚗 Personal, thoughtful, and actually worth keeping
👀 Guaranteed to get more attention than your mate’s parking skills

Have a look and get it right…
Because that car isn’t the only thing people will remember 👇
