More Than Ponies More Than Ponies (MTP) is a roaming occasional art programme rooted in the New Forest, Dorset and surrounding areas.

MTP situates non-human majority places as sites for radical art making and critical thinking around wider contemporary ideas.

This edition maps and forms part ofย the experimental knowledge commons created by participating artists in Rural Facets - a trio of gatherings for critically engaged artists who identify with the / as rural or any of itโ€™s many facets. Intended for artists to network, share practice and amplify our own narratives of the rural.

Words were harvested from conversations, shared artworks and activities from/between participating artists. In early autumn 2024 we organised the conference โ€˜ The Long Viewโ€™. Taking place in a treehouse venue within a New Forest woodland this conference dwelled upon the urgent intersections of and in our time of . With over 70 people convening over two days with an amazing array of speakers, performances, workshops and artworks prompting many fruitful conversations. We we will be publishing something more in 2025 , but in the meantime we have published images (by Dan Weill), films and various from the day on MTP site.

Long Views explored themes of place, people and natural landscapes in relation to access to land, , Public and of . Seeking to re-examine and radically reposition the role that art can play in this time of climate and , moving beyond human-centred meaning and extractive narratives of nature in art and wider .

Alongside presentations and panel discussions the two-day conference also included outdoor sessions, exhibited artworks in โ€˜Long View(s)โ€™ and the launch of โ€˜dAi (digital-Art-index) New Forestโ€™ edition. The conference convened academics, artists and professionals who are interested in taking part in urgent debate and discussion around these ideas.

PaC is a gathering/ walk/ ramble for artists. Together we walk, explore and create a commons of exchange and support to strengthen one anotherโ€™s practice. Monthly meet-ups take place in the New Forest area.

This conference will explores themes of place, people and natural landscapes in relation to access to land, National Parks, Public Art Collections and collective acts of ecological care. Announcing a trio of gatherings for artists to network, share practice and amplify our own narratives of the .

A project exploring and artist practices in collaboration with . Happening in the , online and at (Dorset) Rural Facets has been initiated by in response to Visual Arts Southwest open call. The project is part of and will be co-hosted by PaC, and . ARTISTS ARE INVITED TO JOIN, INFO ๐Ÿ‘†

This series of gatherings is intended as a forum for critically engaged artists who identify with the / as rural. It is intended to forge new connections, create a forum of support and celebrate contemporary rural relevancies, criticality and artistic practice. To create a community of sharing and caring. Alongside the gatherings we will -create and distribute a Rural Facets โ€“ a mapping of our creative ruralities, as an act of advocacy for rural practice and provision, a raising of artist voices that often are isolated.

Rural creative contexts are so often defined as lacking. The government define as having less people, sparse and isolated. Perpetuated rural creative practices are often distancing e.g landscapes (places faraway, over there), folk forms (from long ago). And with mainstream negative narratives of the hyper modernisation of rural places with robot run farms and trampling trespassers, Rural Facets will be about celebrating our creative rural realms and finding ways to thrive.

Together we will explore ideas that readdress narratives of the rural as lesser, lacking and defined in opposition to urban places. Positioning and practices as critical for all society, together we will be sharing, caring and accounting for contemporary narratives of rural contexts of and

PAC is a monthly creative activation in the common lands of the New Forest with fellow artist friends Alys Scott Hawkins, James Aldrige, Melanie Rose, myself and led by Laura Eldret. Centred in practices of commoning, together we walk, study, rehearse and play. PAC is always a giddy and grounding occasion.

Last few days to see โ€˜Drawing on Waterโ€™ exhibition at in Corsham, Wilts - a solo exhibition by

Immerse yourself in a drawn world informed by riverbanks and wetlands explored through through collaborative, creative and embodied practices, to understand what they need from us, and what we can gain in return. As part of Jamesโ€™ Q***r River research project.

James is a core member of PaC our peer group for artists. Together we walk, explore and create a commons of exchange and support to strengthen one anotherโ€™s practice. Wonderful to see these drawings and more in the real โ€ฆ
