A tribute to Guy Wilkinson Choat.

"I was very sorry to hear the sad news that Guy has passed away.

Guy was a very early member of Waveney Strings and came to our first play through at the King’s Head , Beccles in the Summer of 2008. He represented the violas on the committee and loved playing, volunteering enthusiastically for all our small Waveney Strings ensemble sessions in gardens, care homes and many other events in the surrounding villages.

As well as being a keen violist, Guy was a trained ballet dancer and also had an interesting falsetto singing voice which he demonstrated randomly at local gatherings!

He was a member of the Sunrise Orchestra for many years and, as a keen cyclist, pedalled his way from Gillingham to Lowestoft, viola strapped to his back, whatever the weather.

Guy was a very determined musician who played his viola for Waveney Strings for as long as he possibly could and is still much missed by those in the viola section, who played alongside him, and the rest of the orchestra. May he rest in peace."
