We finished this year’s indoor sessions with our Pot Luck supper. A delicious selection of dishes were brought along and a very pleasant and sociable couple of hours were spent eating and chatting. Thanks to everyone for a successful evening. Those who signed up for sketching will receive reminder emails indicating location and if it’s going ahead.

Our penultimate evening session was Paint Your Patch organised and prepared by David Smith. We were all given a 1/16 rectangle-shaped part of the original and a piece of paper the same size and asked to reproduce, as accurately as possible, our piece. The original painting was a great choice as most pieces gave little or no clue to what the original was. It had very muted colours. Lots of browns. On completion, we pieced together the jigsaw of our painted patches, and the original … to reveal… “View of Houses in Delft”, by Johannes Vermeer. A fun evening was had by all - see the photos below

Our last 3 sessions this year were a lot of fun. We had a lovely evening with Victoria Wylie, from Forfar, who gave a talk on her career and then allowed us to watch her make great inroads into one of her abstract paintings- starting from a pink-painted canvas. See photos below. Thank you to Victoria for a fabulous evening.

This Wednesday we continued the theme of “Can’t see the wood for the trees”. We represented whole trees from photos or pictures rather than the small pieces of wood we did before, all accompanied by soothing music provided by Alan. Some lovely results - see below

Last week we had a fun session with our Camembert Challenge - decorating and/or filling cheese boxes with art, memories, gifts and even secrets. Thanks to Renate and Alan for guidance and supplies of the boxes and materials which provided quite a lot of inspiration. See the variety we came up with.

Camembert Creativity. Come and respond to the restriction of a round Camembert box and lid. You might just want to paint it, but why not release your inner creativity to make a “cabinet of curiosity” filled with treasures and secrets and significance. You bring the contents. We’ll provide the box.
