THANK YOU! ๐Ÿ’š

Yesterday the largest EVER gathering of slugs marched to DEFRA to deliver our 146,000 signature petition calling for vital ancient woodland restoration! ๐ŸŒณ

We are so thrilled that so many of you turned up and made the day so much fun.

Now for the shoutouts....

Massive thanks to all the stewards and organisers, to the photographers and videographers, to 38 Degrees for hosting the petition, to The Lost Giants and XR Art Blockers for our incredible props and costumes and to all our amazing speakers (Youngwilders, Ancient Woodlands UK, The Wellstead Project)! Thank you also to Andrew George MP for taking the time to come and talk to us, and to Connor at DEFRA for accepting our petition. This was truly a team effort and we've left feeling so inspired by everyone involved. ๐Ÿซถ

Meet Maggie in the Green! ๐ŸŒฟ

What a weekend at the very first Great Garden Show at The Newt in Somerset

Maggie was created in homage to Margaret Hobhouse, whose vision helped shape the gardens into the extraordinary place they are today.

Throughout the day, visitors helped bring Maggie to life piece by piece before she joined Selwood Bounds, Boss Morris and the Soho Saints Brass Band โ€” an absolute joy to create magic alongside โ€” in a jolly rumble-o through the gardens celebrating the turning of the season and the coming of summer.

Huge thanks to everyone at The Newt for having us. It was a real pleasure working in such beautiful surroundings and meeting so many people keen to get stuck into giant making!

Are you part of a community land-based campaign in the South West of England? Do you need some GIANT support for your campaign to amplify your message?

The Lost Giants with support of Ffern Folk Foundation are offering a unique opportunity to co-create a processional giant with your community between 2026โ€“2027.

What can a giant do for your campaign?
Through Old Crockern and the Right to Roam campaign weโ€™ve seen how a giant can embody land, nature, and collective values prompted by local folk tales rooted in place. Crockern became a rallying figure for the idea that land is common, that access is a right, and that collective action still has the power to reshape the future. โœŠ

Weโ€™re excited to collaborate with a NEW campaign and continue to develop this part of our work that lies at the intersection of folk tradition, land and activism.
