ANNOUNCING: The Big Folk Guild
https://thelostgiants.co.uk/big-folk-guild/

We’re very excited to introduce The Big Folk Guild – A growing collection of Processional Giants and Beasties from around the British Isles.

Are you the keeper of a Giant, Beastie or Big Folk Figure?

Submit your giant or beast to help us grow the Big Folk community. *Limited edition badges for early joiners!

The Big Folk Guild has been created to support and revive the art of giant and beast making in the UK. It is part census, part archive and part meeting place – somewhere to discover, document and dig deep into the world of processional giants and beasts past and present. We’re interested in the stories behind them, the people who make and keep them, the places they belong to and the traditions they carry.

The Big Folk Guild has been created with more than a nod to, B.I.G.G. dreamt up by Derek Moody in the early nineties. We hope you enjoy digging through and we’re looking forward to welcoming Giants, Beasts and Big Folk Figures from across these isles into the Guild.

The Big Folk Guild is a project by The Lost Giants made possible through the generous support of the Ffern Folk Foundation. It is part of a giant project we’re developing as proud recipients of the Folk Foundation Grant 2026.

PRIDDY FOLK FESTIVAL our hearts are full!

Behold.. the making of Fayre Lady Well - Priddy’s Giant water guardian and some seriously good flags!

Deep beneath the limestone hills, among the veins of lead and silver that once drew miners underground, Fayre Lady Well’s waters have flowed for centuries. Today, the ancient well and its surrounds have become a haven for wildlife, where dragonflies skim the water, aquatic stick insects thrive, toads, newts and bats find shelter, and rare plants bloom among the old mine spoils.

Fayre Lady Well stepped out for the very first time leading the festival procession and carrying with her the stories, song, wild beauty and the ancient magic of this very special place.

A giant thank you to everyone involved at Priddy Folk Festival for inviting us to be a part, and to all the lovely folk we met and made with.

Farewell Priddy, may this brand-new ancient tradition live long and prosper, and may your waters always flow. 💙

We’ve spent the last couple of days in wonderful Priddy, Somerset, working with local school children to bring a brand-new giant to life for this year’s Priddy Folk Festival

Priddy’s giant is the guardian of the ancient Fayre Lady Well- a place where history, myth and landscape meet.

Deep in the limestone hills, among veins of lead and silver that once drew miners underground, the well now rests within a haven for wildlife, home to rare plants and creatures: dragonflies, aquatic stick insects, sea campion and alpine pennycress blooming among the old spoils, with toads, newts and bats all finding sanctuary there.

On 12th July, Fayre Lady Well will step out for the very first time, and lead the festival procession, carrying with her the stories, wildness and ancient magic of this special place.

Here’s a glimpse behind the scenes as Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 worked their magic to bring her to life.

Huge thanks to Priddy Folk Festival and Priddy & St. Lawrence’s Federation for inviting us.

THANK YOU! 💚

Yesterday the largest EVER gathering of slugs marched to DEFRA to deliver our 146,000 signature petition calling for vital ancient woodland restoration! 🌳

We are so thrilled that so many of you turned up and made the day so much fun.

Now for the shoutouts....

Massive thanks to all the stewards and organisers, to the photographers and videographers, to 38 Degrees for hosting the petition, to The Lost Giants and XR Art Blockers for our incredible props and costumes and to all our amazing speakers (Youngwilders, Ancient Woodlands UK, The Wellstead Project)! Thank you also to Andrew George MP for taking the time to come and talk to us, and to Connor at DEFRA for accepting our petition. This was truly a team effort and we've left feeling so inspired by everyone involved. 🫶
