Never far from music! 🎶🏵

There are lots of different sounds across the manor - metal clanging in the forge, pots bubbling, fires crackling, wood being chopped ... but especially music!

From the Gentry's music in the Hall to singing in the Bakhus, and who could forget our wonderful players! Music was a big part of Tudor life and you'll never be too far from it across the grounds.

Come and listen for yourself this weekend at Tudor Midsummer! Step back in time with us to 1553 on Sat 20th, Sun 21st, Sat 27th and Sun 28th June and experience what Tudor life was really like!

Tickets are on sale now from our website and will also be available on the door. We hope to see you there! 👋

Chick it out! 🐣

There are lots of new faces around Kentwell at the moment. You’ve probably spotted our (now quite large!) goslings but meet the newbies! Our chickens, Egyptian Geese, ducks, and the first of our Peahens have all recently had chicks, there must be something in the air!

Join us today or tomorrow (11am to 4pm) and see who you can spot! Our new mums are quite protective of their little ones so be sure to give them plenty of space.

We’re open today and tomorrow for general opening until 4pm and then this weekend for our Tudor Midsummer event. Tickets for both are available from our website, www.kentwell.co.uk.

The year is 1553 ....

King Edward VI is on the throne (although the country is ruled by Council), and, rumour has it, the 15 year old King is ill.

Since Henry VIII's death in 1547, there has been much unrest. Inflation is at an all time high, religious unrest continues, and in 1549 many rebellions broke out, including 'Kett's Rebellion' in Norfolk and Suffolk against enclosures. It is a turbulent time.

In our wool town of Long Melford, however, these larger events have little impact on daily life.

On the Manor, William Clopton is Lord and daily life continues. The sheep have been shorn, the harvest taken in, and business continues as normal. Music is heard from the house where the Gentry dance and people are busy at work across the grounds.

Step into this Tudor community this June at Tudor Midsummer! On Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st June and Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th, we'll be turning back time to Tudor Suffolk. Come and explore the sights, smells and sounds of the manor!

Tickets are on sale online at our website and on the door ... we hope to see you there! 👋

Celebrating father's day next week? Still looking for a way to show you care? Why not try these very Kentwell suggestions!

For the history loving or adventurous fathers and father figures, why not step back in time with us at Tudor Midsummer to the year 1553! (11 till 5 on Sunday 21st 😉)

For the nature lovers, get outdoors at our general opening days and explore the woods, blooming gardens and see which animals you can spot!

For heritage lovers who like to really take their time with a space, why not sign them up to one of our annual memberships? Whether it's silver or gold, let them explore the grounds as much as they like!

And for the foodies, why not try some of the local produce from our shop ... or maybe treat them to a scone from the tearoom!

Whoever you're celebrating or however you spend the day, we hope it's a good one!
