UUSU Design & Creative Arts

UUSU Design & Creative Arts The Design Society is run BY the students FOR the students, and is open to EVERYONE! Not just Design Students!

We will be running student led workshops, which will include 'After Effects, Digital Drawing, Concept Art, Book Binding'...but that's not all! If there's anything you want to learn or even teach, just let us know and we'll organise a workshop! We will also be organising Group Critiques and 'Study Sessions' for people looking feedback on their work.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the opening night of the Design Showcase last night. It was a great success. Thanks again to Ryan for his wonderful balloon modeling skills & Joseph for his lovely guitar playing. To our sponsors, Auswood Joinery & Stendhal Festival & to our fabulous guest speakers. Also to all the staff at the Playhouse, you've been great. To all the family and friends who have supported us every step of the way. Final thanks to all the university staff including the UUSU team and the students, without you this could not have happened. The show will be open until Friday 23rd June at the Playhouse on Artillery Street in Derry~Londonderry, so feel free to pop in and say hello!

Nominations Open for the Jordan Kennedy Award!

The prize was established in memory of Jordan Kennedy. Jordan was an Advertising with Computing graduate of the Ulster University, Magee campus. Sadly, Jordan passed away very suddenly in 2014 but we are pleased that his ‘joie de vivre’ legacy will live on via this prize.

The award acknowledges the student who the panel feel has made an outstanding contribution to student life through;
1) Passion and Enthusiasm for Embracing Life as a Student
2) Exceptional Contribution to Encouraging, Supporting and Helping Fellow Students
3) Commitment to the Magee Campus for example, as a Sports member, or active member of the Student Union,
4) Overcoming hardship, disability or other personal adversity.

Email your nomination's name, mobile number/ email address and a write up (less than 500 words) about how they fulfill one/ two or all four of the criteria above to [email protected]

If you haven't seen it already, make sure to check out the SU Newsletter giving us a mention about our bake sale. We gave any remaining cakes and buns to a local charity, Foyle Search & Rescue. They are working tirelessly on the river, and were very thankful for a little pick me up. Thanks to everyone for all their support!

Hi everyone! In the run up to Christmas, we are trying to do a bit of fundraising by selling our Positivity Calendar. Profits go to the Design End of Year Show and to Mind Your Mood, to help promote positive mental health at the University. They are available from the SU Office or online at http://mindyourmood.bigcartel.com/product/mind-your-mood-positivity-calendar-2016 & cost £5. They're a great little gift for family, friends, staff, colleagues or as a simple Secret Santa present. We really hope you can support us!
