Dubovyk stands among the most distinguished figures of contemporary Ukrainian art – an original thinker whose intellectual and artistic trajectory spans nearly a century of cultural history.

Emerging from the unofficial artistic milieu of the Soviet era, he developed a highly individual visual philosophy that he termed “suggestive realism” – a language of signs through which images transcend representation and open toward deeper metaphysical meanings.

Kyiv Art Sessions has arrived in the UK.

Our posters have appeared on the streets of Oxford, reminding everyone that on 30 June, renowned Ukrainian pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi will perform The Labyrinth of Meanings at the Holywell Music Room, widely regarded as Europe's oldest purpose-built concert hall, which is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics.

In June–July 2026, the international cultural project Kyiv Art Sessions will present its new season, 'Signs and Symbols', in the United Kingdom. Dedicated to the role of symbols in the contemporary world, the programme will bring together an exhibition of works by Oleksandr Dubovyk, a performance by Fedіr Vozianov, and a series of charity concerts by Ukrainian pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi.

Friends, we are delighted to introduce the main partner of the new season of Kyiv Art Sessions.

Oxford Festival of the Arts is one of Oxford's leading multidisciplinary arts festivals, presenting music, visual arts, theatre, dance, literature, film, talks, and community projects. Founded in 2009, the festival has grown into a major cultural platform that brings together internationally renowned artists, emerging talent, local communities, schools, and cultural institutions.

The festival describes itself as a bridge between "town and gown," creating collaborations across Oxford's academic, cultural, and civic communities. Its programme combines artistic excellence with public engagement, commissioning new work and presenting events in some of Oxford's most distinctive historic and contemporary venues.

As part of the festival, we will present the exhibition WHITE BOUQUET: A Labyrinth of Symbolism in the Work of Oleksandr Dubovyk", alongside a special opening-day event: "Oleksandr Dubovyk: A Dynamic Portrait in Seven Acts and Four Dimensions", a fashion performance by Fedіr Vozianov.

The driving force behind this collaboration and curator of the exhibition is Dr Michelle Castelletti, Director of the Oxford Festival of the Arts, an internationally respected conductor, curator, and interdisciplinary artist whose work connects music, visual art, heritage, and contemporary culture.
