🎭 Meet the Forge - Louisa Petaï, Opera Forge’s Siegrune was born in London and is of Greek-Cypriot heritage. Louisa has performed in operas, oratorios and concerts throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. Operatic roles include Lady Macbeth (Macbeth -Verdi), Amelia (Un Ballo in Maschera - Verdi), Tosca (Puccini), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana - Mascagni), Carmen (Carmen – Bizet), Emone (Antigona - Traetta) Melpomene (Il Parnaso Confuso – Gluck). Oratorio credits include Symphony no. 9 (Beethoven), Petite Messe Sollenelle (Rossini), Serenade to Music (Vaughan Williams), and Stabat Mater (Pergolesi).

Louisa is an alumna of Trinity College of Music. After graduating, she attended the Laboratorio Toscano per la Lirica Opera Studio programme in Italy and performed as a soloist in their production of Gluck’s Paride ed Elena at Teatro Verdi (Pisa) and at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie (Liège, Belgium). She currently studies with Pamela Kuhn.

Alongside performing, Louisa is also a choir conductor, producer, director and composer-performer. She created her own one-woman musical Dopamine Fairytale, which she premiered at The Phoenix Arts Club in London’s West End in 2025 with pianist Nigel Foster. That same year she also produced and directed comic operetta The Dowager’s Oyster (Louis Mander) at The Reform Club.

A further partnership this year with Louis Mander led to the creation of one-woman opera Eight Days: the last days of Mary, Queen of Scots. As well as performing the role of Mary, Louisa wrote the libretto and produced, directed and designed the production. Eight Days premiered to great acclaim from two sold out audiences – at Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival, and then at Fotheringhay church (next to the historic castle site where Mary was executed), which inspired a preview article in The Sunday Telegraph.

After a two-year run of one-woman performances, Louisa very much looks forward to singing with colleagues again in Die Walküre!

🎭 Meet the Forge - Lauren Roscoe, Opera Forge’s Helmwige, is a New Zealand-British dramatic soprano rapidly making her mark in the demanding Wagnerian and dramatic repertoire. Her rising career is highlighted by her celebrated performance of Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder for the St Wilfrid’s Recital Music Series earlier this year, and she has performed on Gerhilde and Santuzza for Staircase Opera and Aylesbury Opera. A recipient of Trinity Laban’s prestigious Morag Noble Scholarship, Lauren holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Voice (Opera) with First Class Honours under the tutelage of Neil Baker, which was also generously supported by MusicHelps NZ.

Lauren is thrilled to be performing the role of Helmwige in Opera Forge’s upcoming production of Wagner’s Die Walküre, a work she is already familiar with having previously starred as Brünnhilde in Trinity Laban’s scenes from the same opera. Her versatile dramatic capabilities also include portrayals of Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Lady Billows (Albert Herring), and Marie Antoinette (The Ghosts of Versailles). Lauren has also performed in masterclasses for legendary dramatic soprano Susan Bullock, as well as Yvonne Howard and Ubaldo Fabbri.

Her international journey began in New Zealand, where she had the distinct privilege of performing as a selected soloist and chorus member in Dame Kiri Te Kanawa’s Opera Factory. To further refine her dramatic craft and vocal stamina, she also studied with Vera Wenkert (Institute Stimmkunst), a noted specialist in the dramatic and Wagnerian tradition.

Academically distinguished, she also holds a Master of Music in Musicology (First Class Honours) and a BMus (Hons) in Classical Voice from the University of Auckland.

Opera Forge is immensely grateful to The Wagner Society for its generous support of our inaugural production of Wagner’s Die Walküre.

Founded in 1953, The Wagner Society has been dedicated for more than 70 years to promoting knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Richard Wagner and his music.

Alongside its programme of talks, concerts, study days and masterclasses, the Society has a strong commitment to supporting the next generation of Wagnerian artists through bursaries, coaching and performance opportunities.

Their contribution is helping us bring this ambitious production to the stage of Duke’s Hall at the Royal Academy of Music, with 14 singers, a 6-piece creative team led by Sir John Tomlinson, and Orpheus Sinfonia conducted by Kelvin Lim.

🎭 Meet the Forge - Christina Orjis performs Ortlinde in Opera Forge’s Die Walküre. Christina studied at the New Zealand School of Music in Wellington, receiving a Victoria University Excellence Scholarship and the NZSM Director’s Post-Graduate Scholarship. During her studies, she performed as the lead ‘Gulnara’ in the Australasian premiere of Verdi’s Il Corsaro at the Wellington Opera House, appeared as a soloist with the NZSM Orchestra in their “Wagner and Verdi Celebration”, recorded for RNZ Concert, and performed alongside acclaimed NZ Heldentenor Simon O’Neill at Te Papa.

Christina has performed the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, ‘La Ciesca’ in Gianni Schicchi and ‘Mother’ in Hansel and Gretel for Auckland-based Opera Factory. She has also appeared live on television as an Anthem Singer for Netball New Zealand and was a member of the NZ Opera Chorus from 2013–18 and again in 2022.

A finalist in numerous NZ vocal competitions, Christina won the Ronald Dellow Memorial Vocal Recital Competition in 2017. She has participated in masterclasses with leading artists and teachers including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Dame Malvina Major, Dennis O’Neill, Prof. Paul Farrington, David Jones and Simon O’Neill.

In 2020, Christina began her Master of Music at the RNCM in Manchester, supported by the James and Mary Glass Scholarship. She was selected as RNCM’s Soprano Representative for Bergen National Opera’s production of Verdi’s Macbeth, and was cast as ‘Aunt Norris’ in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park, though both productions were cancelled due to Covid-19.

Christina returned to New Zealand between 2020 and 2022 due to suffering from severe Long Covid.

Returning to the RNCM in 2022, Christina completed her studies with Mary Plazas, singing ‘Rosalinde’ in Die Fledermaus and finally bringing ‘Aunt Norris’ to life in Mansfield Park. She graduated with a Master of Music with Distinction in November 2023 and continues to work with Mary Plazas.

🎭 Meet the Forge - Jersey born mezzo-soprano Georgia Mae Bishop, Opera Forge’s Schwertleite, is praised by Opera Magazine as ‘a performer with a strong vocal personality and stage presence’. Georgia is gaining recognition for her genre smashing interdisciplinary approach to her performing, writing and creative facilitation practise.

In the 2025/26 season, Georgia’s performances included Third Lady in The Magic Flute with West Green House Opera, the premiere of From Mumsnet with Love for Birmingham Opera Company’s production of RE-WIRE, singer for Garsington’s Opera First workshops of Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse and her debut libretto ‘Held in the Tide’ (music by Charlotte Marlow) premiered at the Jersey Opera House.

Other recent highlights include Georgia’s debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican in the UK premiere of George Walker’s Mass, Il Pastore and Messanger (cover) in Orfeo and Mistress Quickly (cover) in Falstaff at Garsington Opera, Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance with Tarantara Productions, Ulrica in Un ballo in Maschera and Giovanna in Rigoletto for Opera Holland Park, Magdalene in Die Meistersinger for Saffron Opera Group and Flosshilde in The RhineGold for Birmingham Opera Company. Georgia has covered Erda in Das Rheingold and Queen in Iolanthe for English National Opera and Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Dame Hannah in Ruddigore for Opera North.

Georgia graduated from the GSMD’s Opera School with distinction following initial studies at Trinity Laban. She was the winner of the inaugural Mastersingers Wagner Vocal Competition, an Emerging Artist on the Institute of Young Dramatic Voices, and an Opera Awards Bursary recipient.

Opera Forge Announces David Buchler as Chairman. Opera Forge is delighted to announce the appointment of David Buchler as Chairman.

“Opera has been in my blood since the age of three or four years old. Sitting on my father’s knee in the living room, I would wait for one of the 14 double-sided shellac 78 discs to end so that I could do my job and change the disc on the His Master’s Voice record player. It was the recording of Tosca with Gigli and Caniglia.”

That early fascination developed into a lifelong involvement with opera. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, David produced the London International Opera Festival for almost ten years, presenting around 40 events each year, including world premieres and innovative productions. He subsequently became Chairman of Opera Factory, succeeding Lord Harewood.

David served for 11 years as a Director and Deputy Chairman of the English National Opera and remains Chairman of the ENO Directors Emeriti. Through his Opera Spy blog, he continues to share his reviews and reflections on opera and classical music.

Alongside his work in the arts, David has had a distinguished career in business. A Chartered Accountant and Insolvency Practitioner, he has more than 45 years’ experience in insolvency, restructuring and corporate turnaround. He co-founded Buchler Phillips and subsequently became Chairman of Kroll for Europe and Africa. He has also held numerous senior board positions and received the 2024 IPA Outstanding Contribution to the Profession Award.

For Opera Forge, David brings together two worlds that have shaped his life: exceptional business leadership and an enduring passion for opera.

🎭 Meet the Forge - Soprano and stage director Anna Gregory performs Gerhilde in Opera Forge’s inaugural production of Wagner’s Die Walküre. Anna trained with Kelvin Lim and ENO. She sung with OHP and Scottish Opera, and her roles include Judith (Bluebeard's Castle), Violetta, Tosca, Fiordiligi, Mercedes, Frasquita, Witch/Mother (Hansel and Gretel) Salome (Massanet) Magda (The Consul) The Countess (The Dinner Engagement, Berkeley) and Ilia (Idomeneo). In L.A she premiered Rhythms of the City by Oscar-winning composer Heitor Pereira.

Anna performed with Opera Forge in 2013 at St John’s Smith Square and the RFH for Wagner 200 and in The Rinse cycle (Charring Cross Theatre) Anna sang a woodbird, Seiglinde, a Rhinemaiden and Valkyrie. Wagner News, Katie Barnes - “ Anna traced every nuance of Sieglinde’s emotions..The tension between them ..before sinking into a passionate embrace, was terrific.”

Robert Hugill reviewed Anna's Lady Macbeth in EPO's Macbeth at The Platform Theatre, “Anna was a compelling partner in crime. 🎭 Meet the Forge - British tenor Mark Le Brocq sings Siegmund in Opera Forge’s inaugural production of Wagner’s Die Walküre. Mark held a choral scholarship at St. Catherine’s College, Cambridge where he read English. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Kenneth Bowen and later continued at the National Opera Studio. As a Company Principal with English National Opera roles include Tamino The Magic Flute; Paris King Priam; Count Almaviva The Barber of Seville; Narraboth Salome; Cassio Otello; Don Ottavio Don Giovanni; Don Basilio Figaro and Doctor Maxwell The Silver Tassie.

🎭 Meet the Forge - Sky Ingram performs Sieglinde in Opera Forge’s inaugural production of Wagner’s Die Walküre. Sky is an Australian soprano of English, Scottish and Norwegian ancestry, who trained at the Elder Conservatorium, WA Academy of Performing Arts, Guildhall School Opera Course, and the National Opera Studio in London. Sky has performed oratorio, concert and recital repertoire around Australia, the UK, New York, Norway, France, and Germany, and has sung on ABC and BBC radio. Music awards & scholarships include; Opera Awards Foundation Bursary, 5MBS Young Performer of the Year, SA Young Achiever of the Year, Royal Overseas League Trophy, Scholarships to GSMD & NOS, and is a George Boland, Australian Music Foundation, Tait Memorial, and Wingate Scholar.

Sky made her debut at The Royal Ballet and Opera as Lea in the world premiere of Glare to huge critical acclaim, returning twice more to sing the goddess Venus in Rossi’s Orpheus and Female Chorus in The R**e of Lucretia.
