Sense Ability

Sense Ability Cultural venue, community cafe, apothecary and gallery; a deep-listening and resting space.

Sense Ability is a sanctuary for pausing, sensory grounding, and coming together across a five-week cultural programme at The Crypt Gallery in London. The evening and weekend programme is shaped to forge deeper awareness and relationship with the living wisdom of the body and the land, engaging with foundational subjects that sustain life as we know it. Intimate quiet spaces, enveloping sound and

scent-scapes of local plants, and diverse offerings from the land, shape a sanctuary that is open during the day for anyone to ‘re-root’ into presence. Sense Ability is a space designed with immense care, in reciprocal response to the deeper needs of a fast-paced urban environment, creating a space that nurtures deep listening and supports intentional pausing.

Beneath the layers of London’s clay and soil, found its home for five weeks at of the St Pancras New Church.

The project sought the different ways to amplify the polyphonic voices of the local land, to celebrate the craft of artists and makers that reveal its multilayered presence, and to undust the traditions that enable us to remember our never-fading connection to it.

is a story of several friends who came together over a shared vision to create a new kind of space.

One that resurfaces and integrates the wisdom land into a lived and shared experience.
One that approaches design integrally.
One that approaches design as a space-holder for kinship and care.
One that weaves belonging into its essence.
One that sees the sense of belonging interwoven with our connection to the land.
And one that sees the connection with the land possible once space is created to have the opportunity to first connect to the senses, the body and the sensitivities of the inner-scape.

will continue to be held at till next Saturday evening.

A moment of beauty and devotion marks the closing of Sense Ability. For everyone who’s been involved, felt inspired or a part of this work - come and receive. A time to honour what has been created, to give thanks, and to offer the work back for future growth.

In this last offering we will celebrate the gifts each person has brought, and the care held by the space itself, coming together in a healing flower ceremony to receive the benefits of gratitude, and beauty.

A flower mandala is created to seal this chapter, and each participant receives a personal flower limpia, a gentle cleansing, carrying prayers for renewal and the continued expansion of the work, individually and collectively.

An integral ‘AQAL’ model as road map for regenerative educational paradigms.

From the facilitator: “As an educator, I have spent my career exploring different paradigms in education to include having had the privilege of working with inspirational individuals in some of the most innovative school environments and cultures in the world (perhaps most notably time spent working at Green School Bali)

Drawing upon the work of Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory, this AQAL model is a reflection of my career-long inquiry into the assumptions and axioms on which most educational systems and institutions are based and attempts to identify previously unidentified holons in the field of education.

Stories of inspiring learners with whom I have worked will be used to exemplify the points made, whilst the implications of reimagining education through the lens of integral theory will be explored, especially in relation to education for sustainability, regeneration, shifting from interdisciplinary to transdisciplinary learning and ideas drawn from the field of spiritual ecology.

This evening begins with a live conversation with and , exploring the ways of approaching art and design as a means of extending and amplifying human potential. Together, we will reflect on the role of the built environment in shaping our everyday lives, and how working with, rather than against, natural systems might help us imagine and cultivate different futures, both individually and collectively.

The talk will gently transition into a deep-listening session of TO BE, the debut album by Karman Line Collective. The listening experience will be accompanied by a living scent-scape made from bee propolis - a precious creation offered by bees and a medium Wolfgang Buttress works with, creating a sensorial space where sound, matter, and ecology converge.

On the final evening of Sense Ability, we gather once more to listen together at the edge of what has been opened.

In the candlelit depths of the Crypt Gallery, Manteio offer a closing sound ceremony shaped as a journey: moving through earthly textures and ancestral memory, opening outward into the cosmic, and gently returning each listener home to themselves.

Manteio’s practice draws from Hellenic-Greek, Anatolian, Sephardic, East Asian, and Celtic lineages, weaving together Turkish percussion, saz, Greek lyre, violin, cello, traditional flutes, and voice. Acoustic instruments meet subtle electronics and extended vocal techniques, dissolving boundaries between ritual and experimentation.

Rooted in the ancient Greek understanding of the Manteio - the Oracle, the place where listening becomes revelation — the collective works with sound as a threshold practice. Improvisation and tradition intertwine, allowing music to unfold intuitively, moment by moment, guided by attention, resonance, and shared presence.

This is an invitation into deep listening, collective attunement, and cultural remembering. A final evening to sit within sound, among others, and allow what has been cultivated over the weeks to settle, echo, and carry forward.

A closing. A return. A shared breath before stepping back into the world.

This solo concert marks a moment of gathering and integration in the final week of .

Through the kora, an instrument traditionally used to hold memory, guide dialogue, and bring people together, ancestral sound becomes a doorway, opening space for reflection, connection, and the renewal of community as we meet one another anew.

Jally Kebba Suso is a musical and cultural ambassador for Gambia in UK. He is a Kora player and composer.

In West African culture, the kora is the traditional harp of the griot. The griot plays a key part by bringing together the skills of a historian, musician, storyteller and diplomat to steer the community and its leadership to a better future. You can only be born a griot, inheritance being the only path. And Jally Kebba plays from a background of 74 generations of musical heritage.

An apothecary style cafe forms a significant part of .

Bringing the apothecary into the space is an act of honouring the stories of people who made the choice to listen closely to the spirit of the land. As much as it sounds poetic, the use of language is literal.

Before humanity created the dozens of extensions to amplify our potential (technology, infrastructure, etc.) speaking the language of nature was the only means to survive.

Despite that ‘we’ moved so far ahead and away from such inherent ways of being, to reengage in those ways means to come back to who we are and rediscover the sense of belonging from the innate connection with have with this land.

Tasha and many stories of working with the land is a huge inspiration to us. Through her practice, she empowers curiosity and depth to remember the roots that sustain life as we know it 🐝🌿
