Here’s just a taste of what’s being said:
“Two hander cracker!”
“Knock out good.”
“Visually stunning and emotionally powerful.”
“Unmissable theatre that celebrates the East Midlands.”

Audiences have called it gripping, moving and utterly captivating. The kind of show that lingers long after the final moment.

🌱 The King Stone is working towards the Basic Standard for Productions from the Theatre Green Book, helping us reduce the environmental impact of the show.

That means thinking more carefully about materials used, waste, transport, and how the production can be reused after the tour.

One success so far:
🪨 Our stone circle is built from recycled materials and theatre sets.

Small changes but important ones. We will share some more of our achievements and some of the challenges once we've finished the tour.

The King Stone Workshops are happening next week 🎨

As part of our Midlands tour, we are offering a free creative workshop before performances of The King Stone in Chesterfield and Derby.

Led by trained Art Therapist Dani Bello at , the session combines gentle grounding practices with creative expression to support relaxation, emotional regulation, and wellbeing.

Participants will be lead to create a personal grounding stone — a tactile object designed to support calm and presence — while exploring creativity as a way to settle the nervous system and reconnect with the body. The workshop encourages reflection and self-connection without pressure to share or explain experiences.

Suitable for adults and young people, this session is designed to feel accessible, inclusive, and safe. No previous art experience is required, and refreshments will be provided.

This workshop is only being offering as part of performances at on 6th March and with at Normanton Library Derby on 8th March.

Book a place on the workshop through the links in our bio

🌒 Meet some of the makers behind The King Stone 🌒

Like the stones themselves, this story stands because of the people who place each piece with care:

🜃 Hannah Stone — Director
The custodian of the story, who has been guiding every element.

🌑 AK Golding — Movement Director
Shaping the physical ritual of the play.

🜁 Hazel Low — Originating Set & Costume Designer
Carving the first shape of the world on stage.

🜁 Gemma Caseley-Kirk — Set & Costume Design Associate
Carrying forward Hazel's concepts and grounding them in wood, fabric, and earth.

🜄 Ellie Isherwood — Composer & Sound Designer
Raising the voices of the wind and stone, giving the moors their own song.

💡 Megan Lucas — Lighting & Projection Designer
Casting shadows and starlight, revealing what is hidden and what lingers.

📜 Louise Pearson — Stage Manager
Holding order, keeping time and creating calm at the heart of the work.

The King Stone opens at Curve on Thurs 19 Feb.

Sometimes the first step is just sitting down.

Introducing The Talking Bench: a new interactive community art project that invites people to pause, listen to recorded stories of resilience, and leave a message of encouragement for the next person who sits there.

One of those recorded stories is from Alex Harrison, pictured here. He works at ; a Derbyshire-based men’s mental health charity.

Alex has been instrumental to the development of the Talking Bench, sharing his lived experience of anxiety and depression. He now works tirelessly with Tough Enough to Care to challenge the “man up” stigma in male-dominated spaces.

Co-created with local community groups, the Talking Bench launches in the Midlands this February alongside The King Stone production. It starts at Mansfield Museum on 10 Feb, before ending at Normanton Library in Derby on 8 March.

A place to listen.
A place to leave something behind.

The Origin Story ⭐️

A photo each of Charlotte and Calum at around the same age we first meet their characters in The King Stone.

Over our first week of rehearsals at , they've been rediscovering these younger versions of themselves, before everything changes. Before we get to watch Kristen and Phil grow up, and their lives unfold.

This is where the story starts. Come and see where it ends!

We're on tour from the 19th February, opening at
