Another great week on Saturday..After a few crazy warm up games and a little more trust exercises we tackled a rather odd puzzle. I found a strange tin of odds and ends including a girl's guide badge and a diamond brooch in my garden. We did a little improvisation around why it may have been left there - and by who. Especially liked Madeleine's panic stricken burglar and Amy's very down to earth news reader.

What a great start to the term! Lovely to see bundles of enthusiasm and imagination and talent! Some really great ideas - what a marvellous starting point. Was particularly impressed with the precision in Thomas's movement, and the emotion that Amy was willing to give! Great stuff guys - let's see where next week will take us..

We had a brilliant class this week - we continued to develop our work on creating atmospheres and soundscapes - the space rocket in the middle of the universe, and the motorway (complete with very loud sat nav!!) worked particularly well. We started to direct each other in scenes - finding ways to put a story we imagine in our heads onto 'stage' for an audience to understand. Amy's roller coaster ride was particularly good, as was William's tank journey through a war zone. Eliza created an incredibly detailed jungle trip (complete with friendly leopards..). I was especially impressed by how well the children took to being 'directed' - allowing the director to tell them what to do and helping to do whatever is needed to best tell the story. Great fun!

This week we focussed on journeys, creating atmospheres using our voices. We orchestrated various environments - seaside resorts, supermarkets, Streatham High Street (!) and used our voices to create sounds that evoked the place. We carried this work forward into improvised journeys in groups - trying to show our audience where we are without using words - more difficult than it seems! Some that stuck out were Teo, Madeleine, Amy and Eliza's rocket to the moon including alien encounter, and Amy, Elodie, Teo and Hugo's Land Rover ride in Africa searching for elephants. We also created every day objects using each others bodies - Amy's elevator and Teo's train being some, and Elodie's amazing depiction of a pen! Lots of great directors in the making I think..
