Summer has arrived. We're welcoming you back to The Rectory Projects for another exhibition. Continuing our 2019 programme, we're showing work by artists Victor Seaward and David Sowerby. Our title, SEESAW, comes from oscillations or swings between positions that both artists employ. Objects by Victor tilt above and below the line of production & reproduction, as he deals with simulacra and reflection. David works with re-constituted materials which hold dizzying histories of labour, blurring the line between past and present. In conversation with both artists the word 'thingyness' came up - and it's this eerie, hard-to-pin-down experience of objects that we are thrilled by.

The show opens 4-10 pm JULY 27 and will be open by appointment until AUGUST 4.

Subsidiary Projects is an alternative to the established gallery space. Established in 2017 in a domestic space in south London, it offers artists and curators the opportunity to test new ideas and present them to an audience.

We kicked off October 2018 with a magical show. Forage showcased work from Louise Hildreth and Sophie Mason.

Both artists' practice uses gardening, painting, performance and sculpture to explore connections between people and the natural world.

The day included an experiential herb tasting where we sampled the colours and senses of wild London. It was run by Rasheeqa Ahmad of Hedge Herbs. http://www.hedgeherbs.org.uk/

Our bellies were filled by artist Sean Roy Parker, chef at Brixton Pound, London's first pay-what-you-feel community café. http://www.seanroyparker.com/

We ended the day with a very special performance from a harp and flute duet, Marysia Zofia Osuchowska and Lluís Domènech Plana

This vibrant exhibition showcased two powerhouse female artists: Anne Ryan and Bea Bonafini.

Garageland referenced art and music made in odd places up and down the country, they made site-specific work in and around The Rectory spaces and garden.

Throughout the evening there were performances by the magnificent CA Contemporary Dance Company, choreographed by Adrian Del Arroyo.
