Introducing Mademoiselle Ginger, our Waacking workshop leader for Battle: Break-It-Down 💥

A RAD-certified ballet teacher and a waacking specialist with the country’s longest-running weekly class, Ginger is known for her attention to detail, technique and skill, creative teaching methods and infectious energy. Students call her classes affirming, inspiring and life-changing.

With decades of experience, trophies, qualifications and a consistent drive to level up, Mademoiselle Ginger is here for a good time and a long time.

Join us on the 1st February for this non-competitive, inclusive and unique event, now open to all young people aged 11-18 (25 for SEND) who attend a school in London or Essex!

Battle: Break-It-Down is now open to all young dancers aged 11-18 (25 for SEND), who attend a school in London or Essex 💥

Come down to RAD HQ on the 1st of February to learn about Hip-Hop, take part in a variety of workshops and hear from industry professionals. Even if you're new to dancing and want to learn a new skill, this event is perfect for beginners.

Please note, for young people not on the Step into Dance programme, registration is £5.

Introducing Caine and Shortbread the Breaker, two of our speakers for Battle: Break-It-Down!

Caine is a 21-year-old hip hop dancer from South London. Over the past 4 years, Caine has won over 50 battles internationally and in the UK. He is also a member of the creative dance collective .

Emma Houston, aka ‘Shortbread’, is a movement artist working across theatre, commercial, competitive and underground dance scenes. Specialising in Breaking, Shortbread is an Elite Squad member of Breaking GB & last years finalist at Red Bull BC One UK Cypher.

Shortbread will also be leading one of our workshops - make sure to register quick to secure your place!

Introducing our first guest speaker at Battle: Break-It-Down, Kenrick 'H20' Sandy MBE 💥

Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy is a visionary force in the world of dance and the co-founder and co-Artistic Director of Boy Blue, a pioneering company and Artistic Associate of the Barbican, London. Renowned as one of the most influential choreographers of his generation, Sandy has redefined the boundaries of hip-hop dance through his groundbreaking works, including the Olivier Award-winning Pied Piper: A Hip-Hop Dance Revolution (2006), the powerful Blak Whyte Gray (2017), REDD (2019), and the highly acclaimed CYCLES (2024).

His impressive screen credits include T2 Trainspotting, Street Dance 3D, and high-profile events like the BAFTAs, MOBO Awards, and Brit Awards. Sandy has also choreographed for artists such as FKA twigs, Rita Ora, and brands like Nike and adidas.

Introducing our Battle: Break-It-Down host, Rowdy 🔥

is a well-known figure within the Hip Hop dance scene and has competed, judged and hosted battles all around the world!

She created the UK's first all Female Funkstyle group and co-created the first all Female Breaking crew.

A multidisciplinary artist and movement director, she also makes her own work, mentors, and delivers workshops nationally and internationally.

She is a lecturer at Trinity Laban and UEL, and part of the Australian Performance Collective Hot brown Honey.

We're so thrilled to welcome Rowdy back to Battle on the 1st of Feb.

Natasha had a wonderful time teaching at the new Royal Academy of Dance headquarters in Battersea earlier in the month. She met members of the Step into Dance team to deliver two professional development sessions on inclusive teaching practice. Natasha was formerly a freelancer for the Step into Dance programme which delivers regular dance classes within secondary schools and youth groups across London and Essex and she’s delighted to be supporting the project 🌟
