👉 TACO! is inviting applications for artists to take up a 2-year residency at the TACO! Print Studio. The invitation for expressions of interest closes 15 Nov. More details on how to apply via the link in bio.

👌 This is an opportunity for artists with a risograph print and publishing practice to become key members of the studio, lead the wider community of users, artists, and groups who access it, and nurture their own creative practice.

💭 We are looking for artists who can bring their own practice to activate engagement with the TACO! Print Studio’s production resources, share their skills and knowledge with others, and develop their own creative work by making good use of the facilities.

🙌 Working closely with TACO!’s programming team and current artist-in-residence Chloe Cooper, artists will contribute to the studio’s culture by supervising open access sessions, nurturing an accessible environment, and developing and delivering an accompanying programme of workshops and events (paid).

🤝 This is a non-paid residency opportunity with no fee or stipend. In exchange for supporting the studio community, it offers free use of facilities, access to materials at trade cost, and curatorial support to develop their own creative practice and projects. All workshops and events undertaken by artists are paid.

The Hot Snakes Night Club by Chloe Langlois. Runs until 13 Sept.

🤡 Drawing on the aesthetics of ‘social’ performance traditions such as clowning, folk rituals, stand-up comedy, vaudeville, and the occult, Langlois has transformed TACO! Into an artist nightclub complete with an artist-themed cocktail bar. A full programme of free events hosted by the Hot Snakes Night Club can be found on the TACO! website.

🐍 The nightclub takes its name from Chloe Langlois’s ongoing project - Hot Snakes, in which the artist uses performance to interact and communicate with a holy guardian angel from her childhood - the eponymous ‘Hot Snakes’. Hot Snakes is a co-curated project by TACO! and Dinosaur Kilby.

👉 Installed in the gallery is a series of sculptural playable instruments used in performances and a series of gargoyles hanging inhabiting the space - all made In collaboration with Wojciech Rusin and The Pipe Shoppe.

🐲some of the faces were designed in collaboration with the Hundred Club, a club for art, play and social justice for 5-12yr olds.

👉 Hot Snakes Night club closes this week with 3 events , Thurs 10th / Floor Book Sing Song , Fri 11th / Electronic Audio Club , and Sat 12th / Transmead Party

In collaboration with Wojciech Rusin and The Pipe Shoppe, Langlois has made 4 bespoke sculptural instruments used in performance and communication with a Holy Guardian Angel from Langlois’s childhood - the eponymous ‘Hot Snakes’. Whilst TACO! is dressed with further collaborative sculptures extending from the ceiling, turning the air ducting into gargoyle guardians accompanied by silver shimmer curtains.

🖤 Ruthless Aggression, an exhibition of new work by Dandy Day runs until 26th July

Echoing the room in which they are presented, the images clinically depict close-ups from a boy’s bedroom, focusing on apparently empty features such as the bed or door frame, or the soft, cuddly Disney character toys. The formal painterly qualities of the images, their composition and tone, sit at odds with their cheap presentation and the emptiness of the images. The apparent details of the scene within the room, as witnessed by the soft toys, are left to the viewer’s imagination.
