Colour & Clay

Colour & Clay A creative studio in North Kensington. Here you can: explore clay and increase your pottery skill

Colour and Clay develops and organises pottery classes for all individuals and all levels. We have in-depth learning classes where you can learn all the necessary pottery methods, in an intimate environment, with classes designed for small number of places to allow as much 1-2-1 learning as possible. You can book a one day throwing on the potter's wheel course where you learn how to use the potter's wheel in an intensive, 5 hours, class, under the expert guidance of our tutor. You can join one of our Parent and child classes where you can connect with your child while learning something fun and creating your personalised pottery piece. We facilitate classes for the local community, where individuals get to meet new people from the community while learning about pottery.

As the days are getting shorter, we’re starting to get cozy and looking back at our summer in the studio 🌞
We had a few days welcoming children into the studio, which was lots of fun — both for us and the kiddos!

If you’re looking for a fun way for your child to try the potter’s wheel, we’ll be running Children’s Taster Sessions during the October half term.

5-Week Wheel Throwing Course

Designed for those who would like to go beyond a one-off session and begin building real confidence.

Rather than covering everything at once, we focus on what matters most: learning how to centre, open, and shape clay on the wheel with guidance throughout. To keep the experience fluid and rewarding, we simplify some of the more technical studio processes. This allows you to spend your time where it counts — developing control, understanding movement, and creating forms that feel good to hold and use.

‘My artwork offers a unique and expressive view of the world through an autistic perspective.’

is one of the talented neurodivergent artists who attend the studio week by week.

Rebekah’s pottery and ceramic skills has flourished for the past couple of years as she moved from hand building to learn how to throw on the potter’s wheel. She truly mastered the skill and decorates her vases and small pots with the most inquisitive designs focusing on her favourite animals: mouse, cats and dogs 🐁🐈🐕

If you would like to know more about her work and show your support, her next Open Studio is coming up on the 27th of September, 12:00 - 8:00 pm - further info on her website (link also in our BIO) - all welcome!

Dancing birds from the amazing

Did you know that each booking to one of our classes, courses or private sessions helps us to continue our artist mentoring programme, creating affordable opportunities for neurodivergent adults to develop their creative practice?

Your pottery journey doesn’t end when you leave the wheel.

Once your pieces are ready, you can return to the studio to decorate them using our carefully selected range of underglazes. Whether you prefer bold colours, delicate brushwork or simple, timeless designs, this is where your work truly becomes your own.

For those booking a private pottery session, we can also include a longer making and painting experience, allowing you to shape your pottery and decorate it as part of the same creative journey. We then glaze and fire your finished work, ready to be treasured for years to come.

Every piece tells a story—first through the hands that made it, then through the colours that bring it to life.

Thinking of making something truly personal? Send us a message to book a pottery and painting session, add a painting session to your existing booking, or enquire about a private experience tailored to you.
