Scotland is seeing a noticeable transition from unsettled conditions towards calmer weather, with cloud and showery rain gradually clearing from some areas.
Across Central Scotland, Tayside and Fife, Friday is expected to be mainly dry with bright or sunny spells, although temperatures will remain cool for August, reaching around 16°C in places.
Meanwhile, northern and western areas can still expect occasional showers and cloud. Conditions are expected to become increasingly settled from Saturday, with more sunshine developing into Monday.
Forecasters say the weekend should be much quieter overall, although temperatures will remain below the seasonal average initially. There is currently no snow warning and no UK weather warning in force, with the national forecast showing a predominantly settled weekend ahead.
