Since the doors opened in 1979, this unique venue has been entertaining children with resonant, engaging and exciting theatre. Over 100,000 children a year come to Polka and are inspired, stimulated and engaged by theatre, often for the first time. Polka strives to stir the emotions, spark the imagination and, most of all, entertain. Its two theatre spaces, the Main Theatre and the Adventure Theat

re are designed especially for children so that their first taste of theatre is welcoming and relevant. Opening Times:

Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 5pm
Saturday – Sunday: 9:30am – 5pm (excluding Bank Holidays)

The building is closed on Mondays. Box Office Opening times:
Tues-Fri – 9am – 5pm
Sat-Sun – 10am – 4.30pm

Applications to become a Polka Young Ambassador are now open!

Our Young Ambassadors are involved in every part of Polka, ensuring children are at the centre of all our work. They get to watch shows, attend workshops, tour the building, be an ambassador for Polka and much more.

We're currently accepting applications for all three of our Ambassador schemes.

⭐ Younger Voices (aged 5-7)
⭐ Young Voices (aged 8-12)
⭐ Polka GRADS (aged 12+)

During May Half Term, we paired up with Shakespeare's Globe to deliver a Drama Masterclass on A Midsummer Night's Dream. ✨

The children explored the world of the play, from the characters to the language, with drama games and acting exercises - transforming The Clore Learning Studio into a magical forest 🧚

In celebration of last week's , we are please to announce that we have just reopened recruitment for our Volunteering Scheme!

In 2025, our team of 60+ volunteers gave over 4,600 hours of their time to Polka, and we literally couldn't operate without them! Volunteers are the heart, soul, and friendly face of the Front of House Team, from scanning tickets, selling ice creams, and much more! No wonder we won the UK's Most Welcoming Theatre in 2024 😉

⭐ “The volunteer community at Polka is very special. I have met some fantastic people and enjoy catching up with those on duty every week. It is a really positive environment which makes returning to it every week a really enjoyable experience.”- Jo

⭐ “Being able to work in such a friendly and welcoming environment is amazing, and the opportunity to interact with a wide range of people whilst promoting the arts both in education and for enrichment is really rewarding. I have gained lots of valuable experience by volunteering here, and everything is taught in a very accessible and memorable way - the whole experience is so much fun.”

We are looking for child-focused, proactive, and friendly people to join our diverse pool of volunteers. If you are over 16 and are curious about how a top London Theatre operates, volunteering for Polka could be for you! Recruitment is open until the 30th June.
