The beautiful sacred geometry of Dandelions.

The design on this plate shows the moon rising over the Musashi Plains, famous in Japanese poetry as a place associated with the moon & autumn grasses.

Look to the bottom right and you can see that this plate must have been broken at some point as it has been repaired with kintsugi.

In an animation we shared yesterday, Charlie Black (📷charlieblackart) brought the poetic story of this plate to life...

These images evolved during the summer months. Spending more time outside in the garden and on holiday in Devon brought me closer to the elements. The Westbury White Horse, seen from the train window, inspired my Earth image. Swimming in the sea I watched the sun's reflection sparkling on the water.
As a series began to take shape I imagined woman as Water, Fire and Air, feeling as though I were drawing from an existing feminine mythology. For me there has been a spiritual aspect in the making of this work. Where I have felt at one with nature as opposed to being hemmed in by the urban sprawl of London.
In Jewish tradition Sophia (Hokmah) is the personification of the wisdom which holds all of creation together.
For the collaborative exhibition 'Pillow Talk', organised by South London Women Artists and the Women's Art Library I have printed these images onto canvas and sewn them onto a pillow.
