We are delighted to present, for the first time at The Decorative Fair, the work of Leonardo Dini. • Leonardo Dini • L.D. •

Beginning his artistic journey as a tattoo artist, Dini brings the language of tattooing onto ceramic, hand-painting each vessel as a unique three-dimensional canvas. His work draws on Japonisme, Art Deco and Japanese ornamental traditions, combining intricate patterns with a bold, contemporary graphic language.

The recurring swallow moves across his vessels in rhythmic compositions, suggesting flight, balance and return—a subtle narrative woven into the decoration.

A fascinating meeting of tattoo art, ceramics and decorative design.

Discover Leonardo Dini at Stand E09, The Decorative Fair, Battersea Park.

Work in progress at Bottega Vignoli! Hand- painting of a large Mediterranea spherical vase.

The iconic Mediterranea decoration by Bottega Vignoli, with its distinctive shoal of fish, is not simply a decorative pattern but the result of years of dedicated research and artistic investigation into the history of ornament, a defining aspect of the Vignoli sisters’ practice. Inspired by a rare 14th-century Persian ceramic motif, it exemplifies their unique ability to revive historical decorative languages through a distinctly contemporary artistic vocabulary.

Entirely hand-painted by Ivana Vignoli, each Mediterranea vessel is composed of hundreds of individually rendered fish that flow seamlessly across the ceramic surface, creating a rhythmic composition that appears almost alive. While deeply rooted in history, the decoration is unmistakably contemporary, revealing the sisters’ exceptional ability to reinterpret ancient ornamental languages without merely replicating them.

We couldn’t be prouder to have two of our galley makers part of the incredible Homo Faber exhibition in Venice “An Island of Light” under the artistic direction of Es Devlin. HOMO FABER

Bottega Vignoli and Kurt Alexander works are both included in the feature installation A Full Moon Rising, where in the former swimming pool of Fondazione Cini, a moon rises over the shimmering sea casting its light over a selection of moon jar vases.

And finally… out of the kiln this morning blessed by the full reduction firing. A new masterpiece by Bottega Vignoli is born.

At Bottega Vignoli, a new Gio Vase just completed in shades of cobalt blue and turquoise.
This geometric decoration is the Vignoli sisters’ tribute to Gio Ponti, whose visionary work as Artistic Director of Richard-Ginori in the 1920s and 1930s redefined Italian ceramics by bringing classical ornament into the modern age.

Like Ponti before them, Saura and Ivana Vignoli do not simply preserve tradition—they reinterpret it. Their work belongs to the same lineage: one that honours centuries of Italian ceramic heritage while giving it a distinctly contemporary voice. A dialogue between past and present, where craftsmanship becomes timeless.

Exactly ten years ago MADEINBRITALY opened its doors in London with a simple ambition: to champion the extraordinary creativity and craftsmanship of contemporary ceramics.

Looking back, it’s incredible to think how much has happened since those early days. What began as a passion for contemporary ceramics has grown into a journey filled with inspiring artists, wonderful collectors, lasting friendships and countless memorable encounters.

This ABITARE feature, published just after our opening, remains a lovely reminder of where it all began and of the vision that continues to guide us today.

Thank you to every artist who has entrusted us with their work, to every collector who has welcomed these pieces into their homes, and to everyone who has been part of our story over the past decade.

None of this would have been possible without two extraordinary women who have been instrumental in shaping the foundations and evolution of the gallery. Viola Emaldi Viola Emaldi played a pivotal role in its inception, defining its original concept, artistic vision and direction. Valentina Buscicchio .contemporanea later helped broaden the gallery’s vision and value proposition, bringing a truly visionary perspective that continues to shape MADEINBRITALY today through her distinctive and thoughtful curatorial approach.

We couldn’t have done it without you.

Here’s to the next chapter.
