About The Centenary Company

In 1895 Blackheath Concert Halls (now Blackheath Halls) opened with a production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore. One hundred years later, as part of the centenary celebrations, Celia Moreton-Prichard gathered a group of local amateur singers, many with no previous stage experience, to recreate this production. The resulting performances lit such a spark with the

participants that they wanted to do more and formed themselves into The Centenary Company. Over the following years, the company has flourished under the musical direction of Elinor Corp and continues to give many performers the opportunity to make their stage debut. The company has staged one G&S opera each year, as well as a fund-raising summer concert. The company has also provided choirs for weddings and corporate Christmas parties. New members are always welcome. Membership costs £30 per annum. There are additional performance fees for each event. We meet on Thursday evenings from 7:30pm till 10pm at St Alfege Church Hall, Greenwich, London SE10.
