At Ustigate Waterplay our designers and engineers work together to design, build and maintain our water play installations. We deliver tailor made water play facilities that meet any specification set out by the client. Our products are sourced from our partner Vortex International, a world leader with 8000 installations in 50 countries. Our full turnkey solution includes all the mechanical and electrical elements for the operation of the water play facilities. Our plant rooms and complex control systems are designed, manufactured and assembled at our factory in Kent. Water safety is our priority and our water management systems meet and exceed the PWTAG water quality standards required for safe water interaction.

🏒 We're delighted to announce that Ustigate Waterplay is now a proud sponsor of our local Invicta Mustangs Ice Hockey Team.

As a business that values teamwork, dedication, and community engagement, we're excited to support a club that shares those same principles both on and off the ice.

Since 1997, the club has provided opportunities for players of all ages to develop their skills, compete, and be part of a supportive sporting community. The Invicta Mustangs are a seasonal squad of dedicated athletes based at Planet Ice in Gillingham, Kent. Whether it’s a fierce divisional rivalry or a hunt for success, the Mustangs take to the ice, and run as one.

Ustigate were delighted to work with Cambridge City Council in 2014 and 2022.

In 2014, we converted the Abbey Leisure Complex paddling pool into an exciting, inclusive splash pad, featuring ground sprays, tipping buckets and water cannons, alongside a lower maintenance flow through system.

In 2022, we designed and installed an exciting 15-metre, multi-track waterslide for the Abbey Leisure Complex, funded by Section 106 developer contributions to benefit the local community. The multi-track water slide opened just in time for the half-term holiday on Sunday 23rd October.

Deputy Mayor of Cambridge City Council, Cllr Jenny Gawthrope Wood had the honour of opening the slide and was one of the first to try it out for herself. She said: "It’s fantastic news that the team has completed the works in time for people to enjoy the slide over half term and I hope people will come and do so. The slide is ideal, great fun for youngsters and I enjoyed it too!"

Cllr Alex Collis, Executive Councillor for Open Spaces, Food Justice and Community Development, said: "Thanks to the team who have made this happen, it’s great to see something fun for people to do together."

Callum Lewis, Better Abbey Leisure Complex Assistant Manager, said: "Thank you to customers for their patience while we completed the installation. The slide is a wonderful new feature for the pool. As it’s multi-track, you can race your friends or family down side-by-side, which should ensure lots of fun for all the family throughout the year."

These projects continue to make a positive contribution to the leisure offer in Cambridge. Online reviews consistently praise the family-friendly nature of Abbey Leisure Complex, with the pool, waterslide and outdoor splash pad combining to create a vibrant, inclusive and accessible all-ages destination for active aquatic recreation, and leisure.

Twelve years on from delivering the splash pad and four years after installing the multi-track waterslide, we're proud to know both attractions continue to delight visitors. The Abbey Leisure Complex in Cambridge is a fun, inclusive and family-friendly destination; a place where aquatic play experiences continue to bring families, friends and communities together.

Following another incredible water play season, and the UK's hottest summer on record, it is now time to prepare splash pads for the colder months ahead. ☀️ ❄️

Even though The West Green Water Play, Littlehampton has closed its summer season, we wanted to share some highlights from the first full year of operation. We also want to recognise the dedication and hard work that made it possible.

We welcomed an impressive 62,399 visits, reinforcing the water play’s popularity as a much-loved attraction for residents and visitors. This success would not have been possible without the commitment and support of Freedom Leisure, who played a key role in the day-to-day operation and management of the area.

Maintaining such a popular attraction requires significant planning, staffing and operational expertise, and their contribution is greatly appreciated.

A beach wheelchair scheme was one of the standout achievements of the season, taking 25 bookings and providing greater access to the seafront and water play area for people with mobility needs.

Thank you to everyone involved in delivering another successful season and helping to create positive experiences for thousands of people throughout the summer.

For the third year running, we're delighted to be working with Derbyshire Dales District Council. 🌿💧🐌🦋

For the 2027 season, Ustigate Waterplay will be transforming the splash pad at Bakewell Recreation Ground with new and exciting, nature-inspired water play that perfectly complements the park's 5.25 hectares of beautiful green space.

The refurbishment will see the existing misting arch removed, recycled, and replaced with three highly interactive above-ground features. Children can enjoy a Garden Bug, complete with six Seeflow™ tipping buckets that build anticipation as they fill and spill, alongside a playful Snail and Butterfly featuring 360° Turntec™ rotation and Podspray™ buttons that allow youngsters to control and amplify water effects.

Combined with a range of inclusive ground sprays delivering varied and engaging water experiences, the new splash pad is set to provide even more fun, interaction and imaginative play for families visiting Bakewell Recreation Ground.

We can't wait to bring this exciting project to life and share more updates as work progresses.

On Sunday, Jeremy Sutherland, Managing Director of Ustigate, and family enjoyed a visit to The West Green Water Play at Littlehampton Seafront. It was fantastic to see the water play feature in operation and being so actively enjoyed by families.

What was interesting was watching children discover their own ways to play.

A handful of young visitors had collected pebbles from the nearby beach and were using them to channel water towards the dam gates, experimenting with flow, movement and cause-and-effect. After a 30-minute tea break, Jeremy and family returned to find that the pebbles had taken on a completely different purpose, having been carefully relocated by children to cover one of the drains.

It was a wonderful reminder that play always finds another way.

The original water play design at The West Green draws inspiration from the River Arun, which travels 37 miles from its source in St Leonard's Forest before reaching Littlehampton and emptying into the English Channel. Known as one of the fastest-flowing rivers in the UK, the river's character is reflected throughout the scheme. With a little help from imaginative children and a few strategically placed pebbles, the water can certainly be seen moving across the play surface at speed!

Beyond the fun, moments like these highlight the value of natural water play. Water, stones, channels, gates and changing flow patterns invite children to experiment, collaborate, problem-solve and connect more deeply with the natural environment. This kind of open-ended "flow play" encourages creativity because there is no single right way to engage with it. Children become designers, engineers, storytellers and explorers all at once.

The facility was clean, well-maintained and in great condition. Everyone involved should be proud of what has been achieved. Congratulations to LUC, Arun District Council and Neilcott Construction for delivering a project that continues to delight visitors while providing opportunities for discovery, creativity and connection with nature.
