London International Choir

London International Choir A mixed, mostly a ca****la choir of 40-50 singers, performing classics, pop, jazz, world music, and more. Weekly rehearsals in Central London.

When a bunch of friends from different countries with passion for singing excitedly talked about forming a choir, no one really thought it would happen. And yet, in January 2014, London International Choir (LIC) was founded by Lara Schadt and Benjamin Alexander Fröhlich as an a-ca****la choir of about 35 singers. The aim was clear from the very beginning: let’s bring together people of all nationa

lities to sing as a choir, in a variety of styles, genres and languages; let’s learn music whilst enjoying the international nature of the group through friendship and social events. We welcome new singers of any musical background and any nationality who want to connect with and commit to this international group. We rehearse in Central London on Wednesday evenings. Music Director:
Julian Mohr

Whew what an evening!
As we catch our breath briefly let's continue with the final round of Guess the song!
Those who came to see us will know that yesterday's answer was:
🎶 Arirang

Today's clue:
This was one of Miriam Makeba’s most famous songs and a global hit from 1967.
A symbol of resistance with a key Xosa lyric meaning “light touch,” this song stood for joy and defiance under apartheid.
Makeba, a vocal anti-apartheid activist, was exiled from South Africa for her work and appearances, including in the 1959 anti-apartheid film Come Back Africa.
Our arrangement is by and was originally written for the Drakensberg Boys Choir.

Yesterday's answer was:
🎬 South American Getaway is from the Oscar-winning film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by the legendary Burt Bacharach

Today's clue:
A powerful choral suite inspired by the rich traditions of Țara Oașului, a region in north-eastern Romania known for its stunning landscapes and deep-rooted culture.
This music echoes the voices of the past, celebrating pride, resilience, and the beauty of preserving tradition—especially in times of uncertainty. You can almost hear the forests sing. 🌿🇷🇴✨
