The wind whispers through the crimson field,
Each poppy bows, each petal yields.
Names carved in stone, yet never fade,
Echoes of courage, quietly laid.

I never knew their faces’ glow,
Nor heard the songs they used to know,
But in their silence, I can hear —
The heartbeat of a world sincere.

They walked through fire, through storm and dread,
So we could dream, lift up our head.
Their duty — not for praise or fame,
But love for home — a holy flame.

So as the bugle softly cries,
Beneath November’s weeping skies,
I bow my head, and promise too —
To keep the peace they never knew.
