Had to give this anime soundtrack its own post. This is one of the earliest and greatest examples of hip-hop in anime, featuring the talents of Nujabes, Fat Jon, Shing02 and more.

Where Cowboy Bebop blended jazz with a futuristic setting, Samurai Champloo combined feudal-era Japan with hip-hop, jazz and funk to create one of the most stylistically cool anime ever made. Funny enough, both shows share the same director: Shinichirō Watanabe.

This is only a small sample from the Samurai Champloo collection. The amount of music produced for this series was vast and spread across several releases (I don’t even own all of them), so we’ll definitely come back to this later.
